The change in leadership is making a profound difference. It is evident in improved attitudes of both students and teachers. I feel there are too many fundraisers, but that is not the fault of the school.

Alot of the children are not discplined as far as the dress code and behavior. The children are disruptive and very mean and the teacher doesn't see many things that go on int the classroom.

I am a parent of a student that goes to Holmes Middle School. I have been involved in the school myself. The teachers are wonderful and very knowledgeable about what they teach our children. If more parents got involved they would understand better or first hand how great the school really is.The teachers deserve support from the parents to teach our children better. Tracy Hutchens

HOLMES MIDDLE SCHOOL IS SORRY and seems to be run by a few teachers. The principals do nothing but discipline. The school has had awful scores for years and as a member of this community with a child heading to Holmes next year, I am worried about the education of my son and about his safety. It is a violent place and even the teachers fight. The whole town knows. Nothing ever changes there. The principal changes every year or two, but HOLMES MIDDLE SCHOOL stays lousy or gets worse scores year after year. LOOK AT THE NUMBERS! Because principals only spend 2-3 years there before being transferred to another school, they have absolutely no reason to try to fix the flat or declining scores there. HOLMES MIDDLE SCHOOL seems to be invisible to the Central Office because it has never done anything to fix Holmes.

Holmes Middle School is without a doubt one of the worst schools in North Carolina. The teachers are nearly as apathetic as the Administrative staff makes quick, senseless rules that benefit no one. I must admit that the teachers have a hard time dealing with this generation, but that is their job and they should either start careing about more than their paychecks or start looking for a new job.

I believe that holmes middle school is a very challenging school in everything they do. They challenge there students in everything they do and i know on first hand because i am currently atteninding Holmes in the 8th grade this year. I have been there for all 3 years of middle school and i wouldn't want it any other way. I believe that we are all acidimically challenged in many different ways. I also believe that Holmes Middle School handles there student activities in a very responsible manor also. Each trip we take outside of Holmes are always related to a topic that we are studying. This is why i like Holmes Middle School. (:
