I graduated Morehead in 2008 and now attend Duke as a freshman, and can fully support the earlier comment about Mr. White, Mr. Kirkman, and Mr. DeBoe. Kirkman is gone now to work in the UNCG admissions office but we have Mrs. Rodgers back, and she's amazing for geometry and math in general. Mr. Peterson is a strict taskmaster, but he prepared me excellently to receive the full possible rising freshman credits in biology. There are so many more outstanding teachers, mentors, and friends I would like to name, including current principle Mrs. Betty Harrington, whom I absolutely love, however I am still resentful of many cell phone and ipod confiscations (just kidding Mrs. Harrington if you ever read this.) All in all, the sheer will and energy behind the staffs efforts to prepare kids for success is what distinguishes Morehead to me.

All in all, Morehead is a pretty good school. They offer a wide range of academics and electives, have decent staff and faculty. I have ocassionaly been at odds with faculty members over certain policies and procedures but I think Morehead does a better job than most high schools would for preparing a student for college and/or the workplace.

The teachers and administration work very hard under difficult circumstances, with little funding, to educate our children about life as well as thier general studies.

Here is another review.I attended Morehead in '06. We now have a new principle but the same problems with students are happening. The faculty only partially tries to enforce a dress code on the students and most teachers do not care. The students know this too. I still have several friends at Morehead and this is how i know what is still going on in the school. If you want your kid to be an awesome wrestler or to take Calculus and AP english courses this is an awesome choice. But, only if Joel Deboe, Kirkman, and Paul White are there to teach your kid. .

My son is a rising senior at Morehead High School. Morehead's ABC test scores are consistently high. My son has received high scores on standardized tests because he has been academically prepared. When I've asked teachers about their jobs, those with whom I've spoken speak very highly of the school and teaching. I have spoken with teachers from others school districts and schools and many of them only speak of retirement and getting out of the system--not at Morehead. In regard to the new principal--he is the first Afro American principal in Morehead history. He is doing an excellent job and is an excellent Christian role model for our children. Such a role model is something we parents should be very proud to have in our children's schools in this day and time. He is concerned with the welfare of all students not just a priviledged elite few. A Great School!

The sports program is good bud there are some parents that still do not get inovlved with their kids. This is wrong of them so when things happen and they do not like it then they need not comlain. There is the new principal there but he will do a good job just give hime time.
