I am impressed with the Headmasters focus on education and structure. She is not allowing the kids to run the school. Cape Fear is on the best path that I've witnessed personally in 20 years.

Cape Fear Christian Academy is finally moving in the right direction as the adminstration focus is on academics. Textbook resources are being upgraded through good technology implementation. The Headmaster is also focused on good school discipline, structure, and time management in the classroom.

The school has strong leadership. Parents should trust that the new procedures in place now will only make the school improve to become the best educational setting for students. Very happy with the changes.

I am very disappointed in the school. The school board is divided and imcompetent. The new headmaster has secular, humanistic views. It is no different than public school, only more expensive. Don't waste your money.

I have a child in high school at CFCA. She has had a great experience while attending. CFCA is a good choice for academically strong students. If your child is a weak student he/she may find it to be a challenge. Our goal is to prepare our kid for college. CFCA has done this very well. Kids with disciplinary issues aren't accepted and we especially like that! Love the staff!

Great school. I graduated from CFCA and have three children there. Like all schools, Cape Fear has weaknesses but over all it is a great school. It has a principal and teachers who really care.

I made it very clear that we cared about our son's education. We wanted to be involved. We never received phone calls or emails. Once in high school, his grades dropped. We took him out and homeschooled him. It did not take long to learn that he was on a 7th grade level, though he was in the 9th grade at CFCA. CFCA cares way too much about athletics and way too little about academics. Don't send your kids there. We wasted a lot of time and money. By the way, it is not cheap.

I have been very pleased with the school. I have one child in the 2nd grade and another in the preschool. It is like the small school I attended years ago before the public schools embarked on consolidation (a total failure). We are satisfied and would recommend the school. It is on the rise.

This is my daughter's third year at CFCA and she absolutely loves it. I have been very pleased with the class sizes, teachers, staff, and the whole school environment. It gets better and better each year.

We have 3 children new to the Cape fear Family this past year (2008-09). We are so excited to find a mainstream school with the opportunity for our children to celebrate their faith with their classmates in a school family. Teachers are supportive and curriculum challenging. We are so pleased with our children's progress academically, spiritually and emotionally this past year!

My son transferred from HCHS to CFCA going intop 11th grade. My wife and I were simply fed up with the public school our son had to go to so we searched for other options. CFCA is credited for changing our sons outlook toward high school and one of the reasons he is finishing his freshman year in college with a very high GPA. We have recommended (and will continue to do so) CFCA to many people with school age children. Anyone who thinks that CFCA is not a better, safer environment for their children than the local public high school is absolutely mistaken.

Excellent school! My daughter, now a 5th grader, has always gone to Cape Fear Christian Academy. She loves it, and her academic achievements are outstanding! Best decision parents could make! Cost is very reasonable!

I have had roughly 15 members of our family graduate from Cape Fear Christian Academy. All have done well in college and in their careers. Not one has an alcohol or drug addiction and the moral training as well as the individual attention in the classroom has served them well. When you walk down the halls, it is quiet. If the door is open, the only voice you hear is the teacher or one student answering a question. Bullying and disruptions by students are not tolerated. The environment is conducive to learning. The financial sacrifice is worth it and the costs are very reasonable when compared to most private schools with good facilties.

As a member of the staff and a parent with 3 children attending school here, I would just like to say I am very excited about the new changes that are taking place. Im not saying everything Dr. Sandel did was right or wrong, but I am saying a change was long overdue. I truly believe that the board members who have finally stood up and said enough is enough should be commended for doing so. For a long time it looked as if they didnt care. We now have board members who do. I would like to personally thank Brian Gurkin, Chris McLamb, Phil Fusco, Tammy Scarbourough, Chris Johnson and any of the rest that helped get us on the path to a better school.

[C]ape Fear reminds me of growing up in a small school. Friends grow with each other and experience life while also finding themselves acadmeically and socially. If your children are taught to have high expectations and to strive in the classroom while being well rounded in other areas it can be a great place to have your kids. No school is perfect but it seems to me that parents at Cape Fear want to make it a great place to be and learn in.

I came to CFCA several years ago from a public high school in Cumberland County. I was looking for a better working environment or I was considering leaving the teaching profession. I was told that this school was like the community schools of years ago. I fell in love with the school and stayed. I love being able to concentrate on teaching rather than bureaucracy and constant discipline problems. This is a school that does everything it can to meet the overall needs of each child: mental, social, physical, emotional and spiritual. Our goal is to prepare our students for the next level of education. I am proud to say that graduates of our school have gone on to be successful students at UNC - CH, NC State, Duke, ECU, WCU, UNC - W, Campbell, Methodist, Wake Forest, NCCU, FSU, and several community colleges as well. God has blessed this place.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
