Berean Baptist Academy is an excellent school with high standards of education, a sincere focus on teaching a Christian worldview, and a balanced approach to discipline while also displaying Gods grace and mercy. The teachers are well educated, caring, and compassionate. A true desire to educate, nurture, instill critical thinking skills, and make Gods word come alive. They have weekly chapel for grades 1st-12th with a wide variety of preachers and speakers. The education is college prep and grades 1st-12th take yearly standardized testing by SAT. My children are graduates of BBA who went on to university and are now serving God and enjoying successful careers!

As alumni who is very familiar with the school, I must comment on the recent changes in Berean. The elementary school is adjusting as needs arise. In earlier posts, I noticed disapproval of moving chapel to the gym- I know that this was done to increase student safety because the chapel is on the other side of a busy road. K-5 no longer attends chapel until the second half of the year because experience has shown that they require a transition period to understand chapel. In the past 3 years, there has been a purposeful effort to minimize favoritism of any kind from the administrative level on down. I would highly recommend the elementary and jr. high programs, but I hesitate to recommend the high school as there are some issues that haven't been addressed. However, it is improving. Academics are a high priority, but the Gospel is of first importance. Bear that in mind when considering sending your children here for school.

i wouldn't reccomend this school, yes there are less kids in a class but that doesn't mean anything it's like any other school.

This is a great Christian school but a lot has changed. The tuition has increased the last two years. The children in K-5 no longer attend chapel or learn to write in cursive. The lunch cost has increased but the quality of food being served has not. I have noticed a turn over rate for some grade level teachers. The preschool parking does not accommodate for the amount of students. I feel the students whom attend the church are shown more favor. It should be equal for all paying tuition!

This school really disappointed me this year. I dont know if it was because of the large class size or the teaching styles. No logos on bookbags, or anything, just dont get what that has to do with anything. The school stopped sending the kids to elementary chapel once a week, that was the main purpose of sending him to the school, now they have chapel in the gymn, no plays or anything. I would rate this school as maybe average but nothing great.

I was a student at B. B. and I think it was amazing. The teachers are so nice and finally educated. Since I moved i no longer can attend Berean Baptist. the adamemics are challenging. The lunches are costly and repetive, but you could always pack your lunch. Its diffently worth the money to attend this great and safe school!

The quality of the academic program at this school is excellent. I just moved from Berean Academy where I had all three of my children enrolled. Although I have enrolled my children at a new Christian school in another state which also is a very good school, it can't compare to Berean. I didn't realize how affordable Berean Academy was until I checked in other private schools. The school we are in now cost as much for only two of my children as what Berean was costing for all three. My sophmore will tell you the standards at Berean are much higher than where he is currently and he was much more challenged at Berean. Due to Berean, my oldest two chidren consistently score 4-5 grades higher than their peers on standardized testing. Berean has excellent standards and awesome credentials!

Is this a Christian school or community school? The walls and ceilings leak during storms. Mold is in the vent systems and on several walls in the classrooms, and carpets. The books and tuition have gone up two years in a row, the cost is not worth the hastle. Teachers and staff have different sets of rules for different students. The important rules are often allowed to slip at the expence of hair length or wrong shoes. Over the last few years, Berean has accepted the unchurched kids that the public schools no longer want, causing the quality of education to slip. The high school has little academic choices. They do not allow the sophomores or juniors to participate program offered at the local college. Many of the teachers have favorites, little to no compassion, and are unwilling to help.

This will be the greatest investment in your life. I had my children in the public 'best' (Stoney Point and Jack Britt) and nothing can compare to the quality of instruction at Berean. My 8th grader scored on a national standardized test at the post-high school level in every area except for one and it was on a 10th grade level. I have all 3 children (K5, 5th and 9th) in the school and they are better for it. In addition to the excellent academic preparation, they are learning values, respect, honor and responsibility. Very few school teach anything of the sort. The leadership is excellent, the teachers are caring and competent, and the other children are warm and respectful too. Their music program is top notch and my 9th grader is taking a AP class from FTCC. The school is excellentin all respects.

I attended Berean for 13 years and graduated with a 4.2 GPA, honors in english and math. I liked the way abeka books taught us and its amazing how many facts I remember from history while I'm in college. Because of the bible program, I can intelligently debate other college students in college because I know what I believe. My family never had much money but God seemed to provide the tuition somehow for me and my brother and sister. By His grace they both will graduate. My brother is a junior and loves the sports program. Berean doensn't shelter. The rules are there for a reason. Two buttons on a oxford was not a big deal for me because I knew the school just wanted us to look nice on Fridays. Getting ready in the mornings was so easy and the money was spent on clothes that would last years.

I spent a total of 5 years at Berean, and graduated from there. After a few years, I can honestly say that Berean did not prepare me for college, and did not prepare me for the real world. My parents had good intentions by sending me to Berean, unfortunately they also now agree that it was a mistake. My younger sibling was pulled from Berean not to long ago, after my parents realized what a mistake it was. My only recommendation for this school, is during the younger years, maybe through 5th grade. I do not recommend this school to anyone, especially when there are other private schools with a much better learning program, college prep, and trained instructors for about the same price.

We LOVE Berean! We have just moved to another state and every morning when I bring my son to school he comments that he want to go back to Berean! That says something when a child ask to go to school! Principal Adams is a wonderful caring person and the teachers are genuinely caring towards the students. The school is very open to parent involvement! Yes it cost money, yes there are uniforms, yes there are rules! That's exactly why we choose Berean. So my son could concentrate on being taught and not have to worry about the discipline problems of the other students! The lunches could be better.

I have pros and cons for this school. My children(2) have been attending since 2005. The Christian environment I really enjoy and the curriculum. The con is that is of the expense with tuition and lunch. One of my children is in the preschool section and doesn't qualify for the discount if you have more than one student attending but she has to be abide by the rest of the rules of the academy. The playground really needs to be redone. My children come home filthy everyday when they go outside and play. The uniforms aren't cheap.

This school has great academic programs. Overall the teachers are good as well as Godly examples. They could put more emphasis on the physical health of the children. The lunch is very weak and repetitive each week (very boring) not to mention the cost. The kids need healthy lunches and more exercise. I don't think taking recess away as a means of punishment is wise.

I would definitely recommend this school. My daughter has been going since k4, she is now in the 4th grade. She loves it. She is much more advanced than other students her age. The Abeka curriculm is wonderful. My son just started k4 this year. The teachers love what they do, and that love shows towards the children. I found that the teachers are really patient. It is well worth the money. I read another parent's comment about the rules. Yes, they do have rules to follow, but isn't that what children need?

I feel very blessed that my son is able to attend Berean. As a graduate myself, I enjoyed my experience so much that I knew my son would attend as well. The priciple is one of the best, and the teachers are very dedicated. I am extremely satisifed with our experience at Berean. If you want a caring, bible based school with a challenging curriculum -taught with love- than Berean is your best choice.

I think this is a great school. My child has learned a great deal. I love the way she constantly sings bible songs that she learned in school. She also cites many bible verses that she learned. Academically she is far more advanced than other children her age. The only problem I have with this school is the expense, children's lunches in particular. I think $3.50 per day for a kindergartner's lunch is a little too steep. Overall it is a good school.

As a staff member, I am saddened that any parent would be disappointed with the quality of their child's education here at BBA. The administration stresses an 'open-door' policy concerning any issues that parents or students may have. As in any educational institution, we need feedback from our members to understand what areas may need improving or refining. I feel personally blessed to be a part of this ministry, as well as lauding the praises of the faculty as they teach and love and discipline my child.
