My daughter is in K at Stoney Point and I couldnt be happier. My daughter has Ms.Bullard and she is an amazing teacher and very involved with communicating with parents. I have not had any problems dealing with anyone at Stoney Point. I feel as if the school is looking out for the childrens best interest and everyone is friendly and very helpful. We moved to NC from FL and it was a big adjustment and I am very glad that Stoney Point made the transition easy for my daughter. The PTA program at the school is also very involved. There is constantly something happening to help benefit the students at the school .
I had a 2nd grader with special needs and the school was not accommodating. We moved here from NY, and within 2 weeks, they removed him from the school and into a self contained classroom at another school. I have never had my son placed in this type of classroom before. My son has no behavioral problems just learning problems. The school did not want to be bothered and relocated him without offering any other options. Because I'm new to the area I felt ambushed and defenseless. Very sad.
Stoney Point Elementary is a school of technology. They have been providing different ways to help improve their technology to bring the school up to state standards. They are working on grants to help improve outdoor classrooms and play grounds. Many of the teachers have their masters degree and some are also Nat'l certified. The students have placed and won in different county competitions such as Geography Bowl, civic oration, science bowl, battle of the books and chorus competitions. The students are some of the greatest around. The community is very diverse and has a recreation center nearby to allow for extra curricular activities. I love Fayetteville and the community within the Jack Britt District.
The county is a little behind and in the dark ages. We moved from up north and there is no wifi in the schools. They still use Houghton Mifflin in 5th grade. Behind times for sure. They set kids up for failure and wait till EOG time. I have never seen anything like it in my life. They make these kids think it's end all be all. My daughter said there were kids throwing up in her class because they were scared. Cumberland County and NC in general has some education issues but the EOG testing is a low!
We are military and I was told this was the best school in the county. So far, it's been nothing but trouble. Letters and suspensions for everything with little regard of what children go through during deployments.
My son is in the 2nd grade at Stoney Point, and overall we are pleased. They take the color discipline cards way overboard, and in my opinion make it seem like every child misbehaves. They have a program called Discovery for children who do very well, but it is only twice a month. I do feel I the staff is disconnected from the parents, my son has had the same teacher for 2 years and I barely know her. As far as the education goes, it is high quality. My son loves school! There have been some problems with bullying on the bus, but that is more a reflection of the bus drivers and students than with the school itself. The principal seems quick to take care of issues, but doesn't involve parents at all. I wish I was keep in the loop about issues involving my child.
Stoney Point is one big family. The teachers, Adminstration, parents & students help those in our community who need our help. The staff are very helpful and approachable. My children have all attended or still attend Stoney Point.
My children have attended Stoney Point for the last 3 years. They have experienced a caring staff tat challenges them and expands not only their educational boundaries but also their creativity. I have had excellent communication with the administration, teachers, and general staff. I am very pleased with this school nd the opportunities for extra-curricular activities provided by the school (Quiz Bowl, Geography Tournament, Battle of the Books, the AG program, etc.). Stoney Point is definitely a school of excellence in my book.
Very unhappy! the red, blue, green, yellow system! is crazy.. I get letters sent home for my son touching the walls! its crazy.. Maybe its the teacher to.. The school has no time to get to know the students! when the first chance i get my child is coming out of there!! do not like!!!!!!
This school does not take the time to get to know its students. The teachers dont communicate well with the parents and its all just a big mess. Also, my sons bus was 45-60 minutes late a few times and I called the school to inquire about it and they told me all the busses were on schedule. I dont mind the wait, but I was worried. According to the bus driver, they had to switch busses, but no one knew what was going on. They also have the typical (red, yellow, green) card system, but it gets taken to the extreme. I get notes home for everything, from my son chewing on his pencil eraser, . . . to talking in the cafeteria. We moved here specifically for the school and were very disappointed.
