My son is currently enrolled in MRS. I would not recommend this school for any child. It is underfunded. The office staff is anything but friendly and they are not helpful. Coming from another State I was incredibly disappointed in the academic standard at this school. If you care a great deal about your child's education, avoid MRS. There are a few good teachers here but they can only do so much.

My two kids have been at MRES since kindergarten and they've done alright. I've been generally pleased with teachers, admin, and staff and always felt welcome to visit or call to discuss anything. My only concern/caution is that my kids have picked up some unacceptable behaviors and speech patterns from their classmates. Unfortunately, in this county, it would be nearly impossible to avoid that problem. The worst thing about MRES is that kids go from there to Westover MS & HS. Fortunately, we'll be moving before that becomes an issue.

Overall the school is fine. They have a great before/after school program. The principal is very approachable yet passive at times.

My child has attended this school since kindergarten and has excelled and has been above grade level in all of the testing. They have high standards for their academic programs and provide help where needed. They have plenty of extracurricular activites if the parents participate. I find that I see the same parents at all the meetings and functions. The principal is superb. He is gentle but firm with the students and they respect him. Now that's a word you don't here much lately.

I cuurently have three children who attend this school and from a parent who came from a state with a different approach to education,I have been extremely happy with the staff and education my children have received. The parent involvement is high, despite the fact many parents are active military, and it is highly encouraged. The staff has worked with me to help attain the educational goals I have set for my children and all are performing above grade level. I had a fourth child who atended this school but she has since gone on to middle scholl she too was above grade level

I find that Morganton Road is exceptional in each of these area. The teachers have been of exceptional character and most helpful both during and after school when needed. (There are of course exceptions) The principal and teachers are most accessable. There has never been a problem that we have had that did not get their immediate attention with satisfactory resolution.

I myself have attended Morganton Road Elementary School and have to say as I leave the Cumberland County School System for college that Morganton Road provided me with a wonderful education and some of the best teachers I've ever had. Numerous sibiling of mine have also attended and feel the same, though some teachers aren't quite up to par. With the teacher shortage and turnover rate, it can't be helped. What we need is to give more credit to our teachers, higher pay, and more benefits. With changes some of the good teachers might actually stick around.

This was also the worst school I have ever seen. My child attended first grade there. Had a teacher who did not teach. Once I complained, the teacher's friend started to abuse my child. I complained about the lack of knowledge to the principal. He gave the written notice to the horrible teacher. I pulled my child out also. Parental involvement is not welcome. Worst school ever!

Contrary to what the other parents have posted I believe this to be an excellent school. The principal is the best I've seen and I'd move my kids to another school just to follow him there. I specifically moved to where I live just to place my kids in this school and after 2 1/2 years of them attending there, I'd do it again!

This school as any, has its highs and lows, but I would say that it had done nothing but good for us. Not to mention, they have one of the BEST D.A.R.E. programs my mother has ever seen.
