As with all schools, Aversboro has a mix of spectacular teachers and not-so-spectacular teachers. As with all schools, there are things you will absolutely love, and things that you might not be totally impressed with. I am a person who prefers to get involved and help strengthen weak areas when I see them, so when we got to Aversboro and began our experience with the most amazing Kindergarten teacher in the world, I knew it was going to be well worth my time and energy to do what I could to make the "less perfect" things about Aversboro better. I volunteer there often, attend as many school functions as I can, and love staying highly involved in the school. My daughter has received everything she has needed to excel in her education, and she looks forward to school every day. I am very excited for my second daughter to begin Kindergarten there in the fall, as I know without a doubt that it is the best possible place for her to be.
Our daughter is in 1st grade at Aversboro and has had a great experience. The staff is welcoming. The principal quickly handles any concerning situations and speaks to all of the children (and parents) by name. Teachers have been proactive in making it a great learning experience for my daughter, providing more challenging work when she has mastered concepts. I do wish the PTA were more visible and communicated more effectively, but you can't have everything. I resolve this issue by contacting PTA officers directly to ask where I am needed. We are happy here and decided not to apply to magnet schools this year because of our satisfaction with Aversboro.
While my child has only been at Aversboro Elementary for a short time I have to say that I am not impressed with this school. They way they release children at the end of the day is very unorganized. The walkers get sent toward the meeting spot but any person can walk away with a child or the child may be left alone if the parent hasn't made it there yet. I think this makes it all too easy for a kidnapping situation to happen. I don't feel welcome when I come into the school which is hard for me because at our previous school I felt very welcome and filled my day with a lot of volunteering. However, not feeling welcome at this school has definitely made me decide not to offer my time. While I understand that it is the middle of the school year I feel I should not have to ask for paperwork such as the student handbook and other information that would normally be given out at the beginning of the year. Our previous school had new student packets that contained handbooks, PTA information and a school calendar that would usually be sent home on the child's first day.
I love this school. this is my childs first year there and I was very scared due to the reputation of local schools, but the staff is wonderful, so is the environment. I love the fact that everyone is so friendly and they always remember your name. I went in once ans spoke to the person that handles afterschool and months later, I had a question for her and she remembered not only my name but my childs name. I think that says a lot about this school. I would recommend this school to anyone.
I am proud to say my children attends Aversboro. I am an active parent in the school and I like what I see. Aversboro math scores are low overall but I am working with my child as all parents need to do to help bring those scores up...Great job Great staff and Great principal.
Aversboro school is a very good school. They have a very friendly and involved Principal. Great teachers who care whether a child suceeds or not and who work very hard to make sure that they do well. The school also welcomes parent support and involvment. The school has a good atmosphere, very friendly and help back office staff. The only thing I didnt like was there was not enough recess 'play time' for students, but I believe that is common among most schools and probably caused by the no child left behind policy . A little more recess time is needed. Good work Aversboro.
This is a great school and would recommend this to anyone in the area! Teachers are respectful of their student. Good job!/
Aversboro Elementary Schol sets a perfect example of what an elementary school should be like. Every member of the staff has always shown me exempliary attention, no matter the circumstance. My son absolutely loves it there. We look forward to the next 4 years there!
My Children Transfered to this school at the beggining of the year and love it. They have each shown great imporivements from there last school and say that they will never go back!
