East Garner has a wonderful learning and working environment ! Administrators, teachers and office staff are very welcoming and effective. This has been a wonderful working experience. Students are very well behaved. We have a diverse community of students and teachers. Students participate in a variety of activities throughout the year.
The administration at this school is horrible!!!!! If you have a special needs child who needs an IEP do not look at this school for help, you will be short changed!!
Great school. My son is currently in his 2nd quarter of kindergarten. He's got some special needs (ADHD & Sensory Processing Disorder.) I couldn't ask for a better teacher, as she is is well informed on both. On top of that she challenges his mind. The PTA is very active and welcoming. I've experienced a lot of parent participation. During both orientation and open house the school was full of parents. EGYR is very adamant about teaching children life skills and follow a creed that teaches self control, respect, and making wise choices. I teach that at home and love that it is reiterated at school. Every morning that I have been there the principal has greeted the kids at the front door and each child has been hurrying to tuck their shirts in, as it is a school rule. It's a great learning place for little ones!
Gorgeous school. My son attended this school for a short period of time before pulling him out and sending to private school. There were only 5 parents that showed up to orientation. My son was well above the other classmates with no room for growth.
I like the fact that my children attend a year-round school. The learn at a faster pace and they enjoy their teachers. I do have one complaint; both of my children have been recommended for the AG program, yet they have not had the opportunity to attend a class because the school is lacking a AG resource teacher. This concerns me because my children are missing this great opportunity during their first trimester of school. I tried getting them into a magnet program, but was denied every year. Overall, this school offers great teachers, a well groomed environment, and challenged course work.
This school has slack administration who constantly uses the 'We are a new school' tag on every mistake they make. My opinion, take your child and run away to another school, we had a great teacher, but the admins and pta can't get it together.
