Overrall this is a good school. The only problems is the teachers are always on the students and not in a good way. They look for flaws in the students in order to fuss at them and cause trouble. Also the teachers are not as stellar as they may seem.
Well Kipp:Pride high is and exellent school to attend, but i have to say that the rules are a little strict but once you get used 2 it it's just like any other school with longer hours and better results.
My daughter has attend GCP for the past 3 years. She was already a good student, but this school pushed her outside of her comfort zone and has made her better all the way around. I think that her math and english teachers are great. They were fully committed to education both inside and outside of the classroom. The other teachers were mostly above average with only a couple below average. I am not a supporter of the Saturday schools that are held each month. I also believe that some school time should be devoted to extracurricular activities such as junior beta club, science club, etc. Parent involvement should be more. A good PTA would help the school, but it is not encourage. This school is the best in the area.
I think this is a great charter school because it teaches me that I can't depend on others in the future! When I went to other schools I never wanted to talk about college and/or a job, but now I have planned my job and college life out!
GCP began with a vision from an audacious(learned that word from my 7th grader who attends GCP)pioneer, who undoubtedly believes that all children have the ability to succeed and will succeed when the triangle of success is in working progress-that is, the student, parent, and educator. I am exceedingly glad to be able to give a 'shout out' to the GCP staff, students, and parents. They deserve it! If you ever want to see students and staff working hard toward success, then drop on by GCP in Gaston. You will be amazed! I promise! A thankful parent
GCP is definately one of the best school I have ever been to in my 13 years of my life! At our school we work so hard and are rewarded by it in two ways. Trips and opportuunities out of class and also the best education we can get! GCP is ahead on every thing. Students in the 6th grade take classes in pre-algebra and the 7th graders take Algebra 1. Hands down Gaston College Prep. is the best school in North Carolina, and we wish to change the world and be sucessful in life when our first class graduates in 2009!
