This is a great school. The staff is fantastic and the environment is both challenging and caring. My children have been at another private school in the area for a couple of years and the change in them and their attitude about school and their community is amazing. They are not only learning the cirriculum but also learning how to be a postive member of our local community.

I've been a student here for about 5 years; 2nd grade to 7th grade. I remember the first day coming to this school. Everyone was generous and welcoming to the fullest extent possible. All teachers were nothing but happy, eager, and excited. Throughout the years I've been here, my grades and knowledge - even my wisdom - went through the roof! This school really knows how to teach responsibility and mold you from average to above average. Sadly, I had to leave for military reasons. And yes, I was extremely reluctant to leave. I am biased about one thing, but continue to keep the 5* because of the lack of possibility in this area; but the school I attended prior to this one had an academically gifted program, to which I was involved. After moving to SMS, I felt as if my academic abilities were not recognized and I was just as everyone else. However, I can understand them not having this system due to lack of teachers and rooms. Overall, This school is amazing. Great and welcoming staff and student community, and teachers who certainly do their job well! And while doing all of this, they still manage to keep spirit and faith in education.

My husband and I both work for the North Carolina Public School System. We currently have two children enrolled at St. Mary School and are EXTREMELY impressed with their strong academic standards. There is no comparison between SMS and most of the other private or public schools in the area. The principal, faculty and staff provide an enriching and nurturing environment for our boys. We are not Catholic but are very encouraged by the acceptance of our children and family.

I went to St. Mary's for two years. In my time there, I met friends, encoutered great teachers, built upon my Catholic education, and thoroughly enjoyed my time there. the classes are a good, consistent size, and about 3/4 of each class are totally welcoming. You'll always have the groups that like to stay to themselves, but that is in no way a reflection of SMS, that's the personalities of those children. They like to stick together, so they do just that. I know that I've made life-long friends, and I can't wait to visit my school. I know that there's always an open door to welcome me when I visit St. mary's

I am an 8th grader at St. Mary School. I am really glad I go here. I have been there for nine years, and I think I am prepared for highschool. The teachers teach exceptionably well, and it is a very good environment. If you feel queasy because it is located near a bad neighborhood, you have nothing to be worried about. In my nine years of going here I haven't had any encounters with any thugs. There is only one thing I don't like about our school; the uniforms have to be bought at a place in Cary which is about an hour away. They aren't the most comfortable uniforms in the world. We have a basketball tournament every year and that is one of the times I am proud to say I am from St. Marys. Our level of sportsmanship is very high. Saint Marys is a phenomenal school.

St. Mary School has been a blessing to my family. Our daughters have been there for the past six years, and we have been extremely pleased with the education they are receiving. From the teachers to the principal, St. Mary School offers the best in educational opportunities for all children. We would highly recommend St. Mary School.

I just adore Saint Mary's school. My daughter has been going to this school for 4 years now and its so nice to be able to go to this school and be recognized. My daughter has learned alot at this school and the teachers take time to actually teach. I have to commend the reading teacher the most. She has helped my daughter read so much better and be confident in pronouncing words. This was the first year my daughter played basketball, so she didnt know anything. The kids never made fun of her and made her more confident. The parent involvement is great as well. I went on one field trip with the class and I got to meet most of the other moms from the class. Its just a well rounded school and great participation from everyone. The teachers even get involved in the sports.

Saint Mary's is a wonderful small school with talented teachers and principal. As a parent, I'm always impressed with how kind and courteous the students are. Since the school is smaller, the kids all know each other and so do the parents. It's a close, supportive and involved community. The curriculum is very challenging, and the environment is firm, fair and consistent. The school is very neat, clean and well organized. We are a military family that has experienced many different schools and we have been very pleased with SMS at all levels. I highly recommend it.

About these ratings

The Community Rating is the school’s average rating from its community members (e.g., parents, students, and school staff). The highest possible rating is five stars; the lowest is one star.

We currently do not have any test score information for this school. Unlike public schools, private schools are not always required to report data about their schools or not required to take the same tests as public schools. Many private schools take different standardized tests; however, that information is often made available only to families of enrolled students. We strive to acquire additional private school data whenever available.
