both of my children went to this school, before we moved. mrs. mackey really helped my children catch up on reading, however when he went to 2nd grade wasn't as challenged. this school has some of the most loving teachers and principals. there is not much parental involvement it is in a poorer side of town. i love the teachers there, and was very pleased.
This school is a caring family of faculty that cares about students. They provide for diffierent styles of learning. Discipline is done in a positive way.
my daughter has been enrolled at longview since kind...and is currently in the 5th and she has 3 dif disorders. lv has been like family bending backwards to make sure she gets the right edu.. we moved 2yrs ago and i dont want her to go anywhere else.
I love this school! My son just enrolled in Longview this year and I am amazed at how loving and caring the teachers are! They are always very friendly and inviting. Academically he has excelled. I feel like the teacher has really taken the time to work with him and help him whenever he was having dificulty. When I have had any questions or concerns the principal and assistant principal have really help us out.
I'm not really crazy about Longview Elementary. First of all, I don't think it is safe because the front doors stay unlocked all the time and anyone can just walk right in. My children have not been challenged academically, the school's main focus seems to be on minority groups and ESL classes, which doesn't benefit my children. I think there should be an academic balance for all cultural groups. There are no extracurricular activities sports-wise, and not a great deal of parental involvement. The teachers and staff are terrific, however.
