This school has above average NC Report Card scores - a School of Distinction. I don't know of any other public middle school that offers as much Christian support as this school. I believe that is one reason why the acts of crime/violence are so low for this school. Where government has worked hard to remove religion from the schools, a group of strong Christians has worked harder to incorporate it within the school - before or after school hours. During FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) on Wednesday mornings (before school), the media center is full with no empty chairs - all students are invited, not just athletes. On other weekdays, there are multiple small group Bible study groups for boys and others for girls. These small groups are available for anyone interested, offering Bible study for an hour before school - what a great way to begin the school day. I am thank for the strong Christian teachers at this school that not only care about teaching the students academics but more importantly care about their hearts.
The Acadedmics are very good up there. And the teachers take up time for each and every student.I am a student and I get all A's and I think if i can anyone else can. XOXO Unknown
This is a wonderful school with a staff of individuals that love their jobs and loves the students. I have had 2 children go through Stanford (1 at UNC & 1 at NC State) and my 3rd child is currently enrolled. Each Sunday night, we get a call from the principal, Anne Purcell, informing us of all of the activities for the week ahead. The students are kept busy with lots of choices. I have no complaints and believe this is the best middle school in the county.
I am very happy with Stanford. The principals & teachers are top notch. They are very qualified and some very strict which is great for some kids. The kids are separated by grade in the mornings before school for maturity reasons. The school is BIG on safety which eases my mind during the day. It may be the oldest Middle school in the district but older can be better. My child went to Hillsborough Elementary a couple of years ago, which is the oldest elementary school in the district but is a wonderful. We had a choice between Stanford and Gravelly (due to divorce) and we choose Stanford and don't regret it. The social advantage of this school is that all of the kids at Stanford will move up together to Orange.
I go to this school and I love it! While it may be old they are bringing on new traditions. Every 1-2 weeks on Friday they have shortened periods and have an hour enrichment class of their choosing. Some classes are pilates, cards, soccer, fishing, sign language, dancing, cooking, athletic enhancement, photography, stocks, and crafts. Also once every few months they have 'Dress for Success' Day. This is when students are encouraged to dress in something other than jeans and a t-shirt. If they do they may enter their name into a box at lunch and have the chance to win a blockbuster gift card. Also, their athletic program is fantastic! Grade sheets are required, which is always good. Their wrestling team is undefeated for atleast 3 years and has won the state championship numerous times. The teachers and administration are tough but fair, and allow school dances!
