Depending on the teacher, we have excellent teachers and not so good teachers here. The third grade teacher is absolutely horrible!!

My child has been at this school for six years. What started out as an outstanding experience turned into something totally different. Things have definitely gotten worse over the years. What started as a wonderful school turned into a painful experience. My son is extremely bright and makes the honor roll every nine weeks. He did horrible on the EOG's this year and has scored high in the past. He barely had any homework. I too feel that there is a problem with the board, there are too many politics involved. The teacher turn over rate seems high now. You have to pack lunch and there is no bus service. Kids can not bring any food that has to be heated so you are pretty well stuck with sandwiches etc. A survey was sent out saying that they were thinking about catering lunch which would cost $4-$6 day. They have gone though two principals in the lst few years which seems to be when things went down hill. Fifth grade does not have any sort of graduation ceremony which was a let down. There should be a celebration in moving from elementary school to middle school. The kids miss out of so much that other schools offer. I would highly recommend checking into your school choices before making a decision as important as this one.

We got the EOG results and it's shocking how poorly my daughter did this year. There are WAY too many things going on in this school that are not related to academics. If you cannot master the basics, why STEAM? I hardly see my kids doing any homework, but it's project based, right? We didn't ask for STEAM, we didn't ask for no recess, we didn't ask for no school bus next year. There's a small group of parents who run this enterprise on a federal dime, and it's clear that academics are not the first priority.

The current principal is atrocious. The board is also out for what's best for them. The majority of teachers are great but under their current leadership, I see this school as falling greatly behind other schools.

I would not recommend this school. There are some serious issues on the board of directors and in the school leadership. I would recommend doing your research thoroughly before considering this school.

Very disappointed in the basic education my child received. We had heard great things about Orange Charter but my child was falling well behind in both reading and math. The school touts a project based and engineering curriculum but if children are not learning basic skills early on all the other stuff is nothing more than fluff. Not a great fit for my family.

I am just finishing up my first year teaching at Orange Charter School and have to say how much I love it. The class sizes are small, we are provided with supplies and materials we need to teach, and the families are committed to their child's education. It really feels like a family rather than an institution. I feel lucky and blessed to be here.

This school has been a great school for my children. My oldest child attended 6-8 grade. My younger daughter is still attending the school. They really helped my children to succeed! Both my children have enjoyed going to school here. The teachers go above and beyond when teaching the kids!

As one of the students of OCS, I can tell you that this school has what is esencial for what we, the students, need to know. Though the school isn't big, nor fancy, it is all we need to learn. Not to long ago, bulliying was not allowed, now are scool can be in peace. Though being a student, I see little quarells every now and then. Well, even though the school is made for education, there are... er, friendships. For example, some girls, like some boys, and some boys, like some girls. Furthermore, some students do extrodenary on tests while some, do not. But by knowing this school, I know, for sure, they will teach everyone so that they will succeed! This is my review.

Lack of uptight social climbing parents driving kids in silly bureaucratic environment. Rather, small, efficient, quality education with a great vibe that can accommodate my child's individuality.

I love Orange County Charter School because they have vegetarian lunches and want an alternative to dissecting animals.

We hired Dr. Mark Borkowski to be our principal last year, and he is a godsend! Note that the reviews of OCS which rated the principal leadership as 4/5 were done before he came. Dr. B works very well with the Board and the teachers. Our teachers are a tight-knit, dedicated team, who are always striving to improve year after year. Low turn over - in families and teaching staff, says it all. People are here by choice and they love it.

I was a student at OCS from K-8 and I graduated in '07. Becuase of this I really had a chance to watch the school grow. The wonderful teachers there really challenge all their students and thanks to them I had a 13+ reading level when I was in the sixth grade. I really appreciate the care I recieved there and I wouldn't change a single experience.

I am very happy with this school. The teachers are loving and about the education and well being of the children. My child is above his grade level in reading due to the attention that he has recieved at this school.

We love this school. We have tried private christian schools and public schools and we think we have found a happy medium. This charter school is very family and individual oriented. Small class sizes and individual attention equals happier students with a better understanding of classwork.
