Our son has attended Montessori Farm School for two years and we are so pleased with how he is thriving! The teachers show great dedication, both to their work and to their students. We are so pleased to have teachers who work to each individual child's need to develop their character and independence, as well as their academic performance. The curriculum at the school is robust, encompassing math, science, nature studies, geography, language, practical life and more -- the lessons and work strike a wonderful balance between encouraging student independence and fostering a mentor-mentee relationship between students. Our family feels as though we have joined a larger family - there is a strong sense of community at this school. Parents are welcome to spend time in the classroom and volunteer with daily or weekly activities if they so desire. The school also values the importance of being active and supportive of the surrounding community. The school's motto is "Where Young Minds Grow", and they do just this - academically, socially, and in many other ways!
I am incredibly choosy about care for my children, and I picked through local preschool programs with a fine-tooth comb when it came time to decide on a program for our oldest child. I wanted it to fuel our daughter's intellect without inappropriate drilling of academics, help her become comfortable being in a classroom, learn and practice the basic habits of friendship and citizenchip, and excite her and challenge her. And most of all, I wanted to be sure that I could trust that the teachers loved their work and their students. I found all this in Montessori Farm School and encourage families to check it out for themselves.
We are in absolute awe of all our children have learned and experience d at the Montessori Farm School. The teachers are amazing, warm, caring, and exceptiona lly skilled. Children learn in a hands on, interactive environment which is both motivating and satisfying. The teachers are constantly working with children to empower them to solve their own problems, whether those problems are a simple classroom spill or a disagreement with a friend. We noticed a difference in both of our daughters' independence at home almost immediately. All that and our girls now know their continents, oceans, addition facts and can read! I just can't say enough!!
Without a doubt, the Montessori Farm School is unparalleled in its exceptional quality. As a former public school teacher, I knew that the choice I made for my child's first educational experience was a critical one, and I spent quite a bit of time researching all of the options available in the area. Once I met the teachers at the Montessori Farm School I knew that this would be the best place for my son. Two years later, I am constantly amazed. The level of dedication and attention given to each child is simply unbelievable! The teachers possess not only a deep sense of professionalism and incredible knowledge but also the type of unconditional love for our children that one would typically only expect to see within a family. Maybe this is why we have truly come to feel as if the school's community is part of our family. I couldn't imagine a better start for my son, and I highly recommend this school as the perfect place for a young child to gain the love for learning that will last a lifetime.
Truly the best pre-school - kindergarten program in the triangle!!! Outstanding teachers, staff, students, and community. Our 3 1/2 year old loves MFS!
Montessori Farm School in Hillsborough, NC, is FANTASTIC. Our son is in his 2nd year at MFS; we are continually delighted at the commitment and skill of the teachers and staff. It is truly a community school, where every student (and family) is treasured, respected, and supported. MFS teachers integrate music and art into daily life; small group lessons are excellent; and my son has his own individual work plan every week. MFS teachers have guided him in taking responsibility for his kindergarten education (time management!) as well as the school environment. Each child learns that s/he is a part of a peaceable community, learns how to make the school as eco-friendly as possible, takes responsibility for the school's animals, and helps clean / maintain the classrooms. Every part of life is part of MFS' education: practical life, reading, math, relationships, geography, science, art, spelling ... the whole package. And as my child matures, so does his work plan and responsibilities. He is respected for the person that he is, here and now, as well as the person he wants to become. He knows world geography and creates gorgeous maps all year. All that, and he's doing multiplication!
An incredible school full of caring, intelligent teachers. I feel completely confident that my daughter is receiving an excellent education in a safe and loving environment.
2nd Grade at MFS has inspired my son to new levels! The two elementary teachers (1:6 teacher:students ratio) have inspired my son beyond my expectations in areas such as newspaper writing, division, news casting, weather, farm life, volleyball and especially science. He loves going every day and is driven to learn more all the time now. The care and nurturing spirit of all the teachers is phenominal! I'm so glad I found this school for both of my children!
What can I say, that hasn't already been said - this is just an incredible environment for a child. There is a depth of learning here that as a parent I find awe inspiring! Small children can and do learn things that adults often assume are just over their heads. MFS is such a warm nurturing home away from home, it seems to bring out the best in each child. The classes are not too large, the children are of mixed ages and often learn from each other which I think is just amazing to watch. This completely eliminates any issues of advanced kids feeling bored too because there is always someone older working on something more challenging ready to share their work. Just the best choice I could have made for my child.
Wow!! What an amazing school, amazing teachers, amazing program!! I am in love with the school, the community, the teachers - the overall atmosphere - and what the children come away with is priceless! This is our 5th year and I can't imagine any better setting for my daughter - and my whole family!
