I think Rockfish is a great school. My son transferred at the beginning of 1st grade. It was a big adjustment considering his last shool was much smaller. At first I wasn't sold on Rockfish because there were so many procedures that I thought were pointless. As my son is now beginning 3rd grade there are some procedures that I still find annoying, but overall I can see the bigger picture because we've gotten more used to things. This year the school is starting more afterschool activities for the children and continue to really promote parental involvement. Yes, the activitities are driven by EOG, but I think that the socialization for the kids and parents is the more enjoyable part of the evenings. 3rd grade has presented some challenges for my son, but his teacher and the administrative staff at Rockfish are committed to seeing my son succeed. I can already see the difference in my son because he's feeling like he's a winner again!
Rockfish is one of the BEST schools in Cumberland Co. Both of my girls only went to Rockfish...one is in Middle school now but the other one is still there. Rockfish is so good I drive my daughter to school to get her the best education in Cumberland Co. The teachers are absolutely wonderful and have went out of their way to help both of my daughters be successful young adults. Sometimes there were struggles bc things don't always come easy to her however the teachers always had a positive attitude and really helped her get where she needed to be. Mrs. Sirios is my hero...she loves her job and she helped my girls so much!!!
This is an ok school. They push academics more than anything. I really wish I would see other activities after school. I've been more comfortable in other schools and felt more welcome. I would say this is an average school.
L-O-V-E it at the ROCK!!! We came from out west and we are sooo happy that we were referred to Hope Mills. We are military and wanted a safe place to raise our kids. There are a few subdivisions for Rockfish Elementary -behind the school is Golf Acres it averages in 115k.....woodland hills and South main subs have train tracks behind them and avgs $190, SteepleChase is listed parkton but is Hope Mills so you have the great schools they avg $180-230k. There is so much to do in our town and the schools reallly make it a blast....we love it here
This is a great school with very involved parents and teachers. I have 2 children that attend and feel that they have received the very best in education. The teachers are loving and really supportive. Parents are very involved in the PTA and helps in alot of afterschool activities through out the year. This is a very clean, safe, and loving environment.
We love it at Rockfish. This elementary school staff really loves our children. An extension of a military family if you will. They really support our children and take into account the military family. We love it here and have for the past 4yrs. The teachers and assistants are amazing and well educated. The dress code for the teachers are dressy and they do not allow the kids to slack in that dept either!
Rockfish elementary in Hope Mills is amazing! The PTA really rallies around the students and helps the school as a whole. The principle has an open door policy which is great!
We Love it at the Rock....a military town w/a family togetherness. The school loves our kids, they work together to get things done. Mrs Mimms is amazing and cares alot about our children. The town is small w/family things to do...a great rec center,a super great walking path, a beautiful dam and swimming area.....its a safe place to raise our family and we love it here!
My daughter is in second grade at Rockfish. THis is the first year that she has actually wanted to go to school. We are a military family and this is her 4th school to attend. My daughter is reading at close to a 6th grade level now. The school really pushes reading! Most of the teachers seem kind and caring. A few of the best:K-Mrs. Jones and Mrs. Hall 1st-Mrs. Watkins 2nd-Mrs. Poland and Mrs. Hanan 3rd- Mr. Ferry and Mrs. Parker 4th-Mr. Pitelli 5th-Mrs. Vasquez and Mrs. Brooks. Additional teachers were added this year to reduce class room size for 2nd and Kindergarten. My daughter is very excited to return to Rockfish for 3rd grade!
My child went to Rockfish for two years. During that time, she enjoyed every single day that she spent with her energetic and heartfelt teachers. I was proud to have a child so enthusiastic about going to school and I owe it all to her past teachers. If there was anything that I think could be changed about this school would be it's discipline plan and the amount of extracurricular activities. The nation may be test driven, but out children need guidance and other activities at school to help them learn social skills.
