LKNC staff have hearts of gold. The parents and students love the Lord. But the school is in serious financial trouble. All schools struggle in the first few years but how many have 4 administrators in the first 4 years of existence? This school is throwing good money after bad trying to dig itself out of a HUGE hole. Ephesians 4:25 Therefore, having put away falsehood, let each one of you speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.
This is our 3rd year at LKNC. Despite numerous changes, one thing remains the same; our children are receiving an awesome education from caring,Christ centered, individuals. All new schools go through tremendous changes in their first few years. Having faith, and being able to get past personal issues to the real core of the reason we are there has helped us to weather these changes. EDUCATION is the most important thing. Are my kids getting the best education right now? YES! YES! YES!! They have both thrived in the small environment and have uplifting and personal relationships with their teachers. A parent could not ask for more.
This is our fourth year at LKNC and my children love it. They have a great teaching staff and MOST of all my children learn about the LORD. Depsite the changing at LKNC (which were needed) God has done great things and will continue to do great things. As for the people posting such negative things about the school. Luke 6:37 Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned; forgive, and you will be forgiven.
I love lake norman christian, it is a real school, it is not hidden behind large budgets or large athletic programs. Those who stand firm with their faith and not bash or ridicule others who have tough decisions to make are those who truly follow the teachings of Jesus Christ! I love Jesus and I love LKNC, because this school changed my daughters life, and gave her confidence that she never had. Praise LKNC and Jesus Christ (our lord and saviour), those who walk the hard path will truly be rewarded.
I am a parent of a student who has been attending this school since it started 3 years ago. I was actually asked by a school board member to write a favorable review on this site to boost the confidence in the school's online reputation. I in all honesty can not write a favorable review as I am dismayed over recent events that took place during this past school year & with the poor leadership of the school board & the administration who in my opinion have not been acting in a Christ Like Manner when letting staff members go or expelling a child 3 weeks before school let out. They didn't even let the parents know that they were bidding on the Davidson building that CMS was shutting the doors of until the very last day of the school year. The reason CMS shut the doors to Davidson building is due to the HIGH operating cost & the poor condition the building is in. I can't fathom just how LKNC thinks it is going to be able to pay the cost of getting the building up to safe standards, plus the overall operating cost to maintain it with the low enrollment they have at present time. We were trying to stay loyal to the school but this issue is the final straw and we will be moving on.
As a parent I am now also concerned with the future of LKNC. We were told school was having a carwash to raise money for supplies. We are not sure we have made the best decision for our children. The school has also lost the school board chairman and other members on the board, many sports are also being pulled. Asked questions and listen to the office hedge around the answers.
Lake Norman Christian school is a wonderful private christian school. Our 2 children have been attending LKNC since it first opened. LKNC has exceeded our expectations. Our children look forward to attending school every day. Classroom size is approximately 15 students per teacher. This allows more one-on-one time. Children are greeted each more at the classroom door with a hug from their teacher. Christ-centered pre-school through high school environments in which faith is integrated with become spiritually, academically, emotionally, socially, and physically prepared. The school board consists of parents and community leaders. The board meets weekly to maintain a school of excellence. Currently the school is looking for land in the Lake Norman area (with easy access to I-77) to build a new school campus. Currently LKNC is leasing space from Lake Norman Baptist church but is not affiliated with the church. We have loved every teacher that our children have been assigned. Teachers & other staff members communicate well with parents. Phone calls and emails are answered timely. Students respect others no matter what income bracket their family is in.
We have had a great 3 years at Lake Norman Christian and we still are committed to the school as the school is going through quite a bit of transition which I think is most likely common for most small start up schools and especially in this time of economic challenge. While there has been some communication issues where things coule have been more timely, I still feel the board and staff at Lake Norman Christian have a heart for the Lord and a desire to do what is right. The merger being called off was a good thing I believe and I think in all honesty for the school to grow into and excellent school some changes that were made recently were for teh best. For any prospective parent I think you need to tour the school and find out first hand what you think and where you feel God is leading you and your famikly. For me it has been imperative that my kids learn in a Christian environment where they are loved by their teachers and staff and that has always been th case and will continue to be so,
My children attended this school for 3 years. Now we are leaving to go to another Christian school in the area, one we never thought we would attend. I love the teachers, but feel with all the changes in administration and the poor decisions being made by the school board that the good teachers will probably not be happy and decide to leave too. Not merging with the Montessori school was a good decision. The merger was scaring away parents. Unfortunately the school board doesn't seem to be able to make good decisions anymore. They are constantly changing their minds and going against their word. They have failed miserably to communictae with the parents in a timely manner and that has driven many famiies away. Recently the parents found out through the local newspaper that the school was considering moving to a new location. The board had to scramble to send out the word after the fact. Which was also the case with letting the principal go. Most families found out on facebook instead of from the school. It just doesn't seem like the board and administration have it together.
Once LKNC gets through this current drama, things will be great. It was time for the principal to go (she was a better teacher than administrator), and we need to move on. Change is tough, but I think LKNC is headed in the right direction and it will continue to do so. Thank goodness someone had the sense to stop the merger with the Montessori school. We LOVE this school and can't wait to get back in the fall! My children are flourishing!
