This school has been here for many years. My 52 yr old husband went here, our children went here and now our granddaughter goes here. The staff gives this school a feeling of being at home. They are caring and friendly educators who really want the best for their students. I just wish there was a way to get the parents nore involve in their childrens education to bring this back up to a School of Excellence.
ids come home with bad injuries..bloody noses.. head injuries. The teachers could care less if the kids pass. They just can't keep control over the class. Principal..(JOKE) This school has really gone down hill and the kitchen staff one I know of likes to misplace money.. my money!! I feel my child is not only going to fail but will also continue to be hurt while the teachers sit on ther *** and do not watch them. I am ready to sell my home and move to get my kid out of this nightmare.
0 stars. i have informed the principle many times of the lack of interest and effort of the teacher. my son is at grade level and that's all they care about as long as he is doing ok. truly ignorant. they fallow the no child left behind to a T. why have the kids go to school if their going to pass anyways? give them the high school diploma now. they don't care about challenging their minds as long as they barely pass right? i can't change him school because this is my school districts. i can't change him teachers because the principal doesn't agree. what can i do? i'm not a teacher to home school him, i can't afford a private school, where i know they will try to challenge him because they get more money. is that why they don't try? because they don't get payed more?
wow the school is amazing my kids fell extreamly welcomed there the principal rocks!!keep the good work up Blue Creek Elemantary
I do not think they deserve any stars. I feel that the kids are not learning anything, and I hate that we are zoned there.
I am military wife and my daughter has been to pleanty schools in her short school time and I was welcome at blue creek better than any other school
I am a military wife that has felt extremely welcome at Blue Creek Elementary. they helped make our mid year transition extremely easy and I have always felt welcomt ot attend the classes. I have a child that gets in trouble often and they are doing well within their means to assist my child. they are also very understanding of the stress of deployment on our children.
My child has attended 4th and 5th grade here and the school is great- love the smallness of it and the closer one on one kids seem to recive there-she has done well academically and almost off to middle school! No problems with Blue Creek. Great little school!
Be your child's advocate diligently. Special education program is sub-adequate. My child is falling behind and there is nothing done to help the student to be successful and progress even with our suggestions. This program needs 'special' attention.
I feel the quality of academic programs has fallen since Kathy Spencer left the school. The school seems cold to parents and like they don't want anyone to help. There are no extra curricular actitivities. Atmosphere is harsh and seems uncaring about students and staff, alike.
My son has gone to this school for 2 years and we have had an absolutely wonderful experience. His teacher last year was incredibly positive and great with the children! When she saw that my son needed to be challenged, she pushed him to new levels with accelerated work in almost all areas. This is our 2nd year with Blue Creek, and from meeting his teacher this year, I think we'll have another outstanding year. This may be one of the oldest schools in Jacksonville, but with experience, comes expertise. We are glad to be part of this school!
I would have to say this school is not that good I have two children who attend and I feel most of the teachers do not care about if these children really learn anything at all. I feel all these children are are test numbers. I feel the principal and the teachers look out for each other and not anyone else.
This school for the most part has been a BIG dissapointment. Three of my children go to this school. When we as parents have gone to this school to get help for our children who have issues the school tells us that they see nothing wrong with our children yet they get in trouble most of the time. To me it feels like instead of trying to help they are pushing the children through the school so that they can go on to middle school and no longer be their problem. I have seen this done to other children and do not agree with it.
I personally have not had the greatest experience with Blue Creek. I attended this school for a couple years when I was younger and my children went there for two years, and it has not improved in my opinion. The office staff has always been outstanding but the school makes poor choices in teachers. I truly believe that this school selects the left-over teachers that no other school would take.
I have had the pleasure of having two of my four children attend the fabulous pre-K program. I look anxiously forward to when the other two are school-age! The two dedicated women who currently teach this program are full of heart and dedication that is hard to beat. There is a cultural diversity in this school that goes to teach children acceptance of others. Each experience I have had with these fine examples of educators can be labeled five star. There have been a few hiccups in the road to success and to hint at perfection would not do the school justice. I will say that any flaw, previous or unforeseen, has been met with professinalism, caring and an honest-to-goodness 'let's learn from this and fix it so it won't happen again' mentality. There is also a small-town feel among the staff that is contagious as the year goes on. It is extremely hard not to smile at the cheerful and always smiling receptionist. She truly has gone out of her way over the past few years to ensure everyone feels welcome and all the children feel special while within this schools' care. The Title I educators have unmeasurable patience. Parents are encouraged to participate at any/all level of their ability. Local community members also sponsor classes for reading and other activities as a way of giving back to the future leaders of tomorrow. Most people pending a move miss their home or friends; I personally, will miss the best kept secret in Onslow County--Blue Creek Elementary! If any suggestions were to be made then it could be that more of a selection of extracurricular activities be implemented and that would be the icing on the cake.
