Both my children attend Brookside. My family chose this school because we needed a better more caring environment than public school could provide. My son developed severe ADHA and became labeled as a problem child. He came home on a daily basis broken hearted and defeated from public school. We changed schools mid year after the holiday break. Brookside really gave him the attention he needed and got him caught up to grade level. Our daughter is doing great as well. I also like the values that are taught. The kindness and patience the staff has shown my children has been wonderful. Since their time at Brookside, my children have become more polite, more independent, well adjusted children. Their approach to teaching shapes the lesson plan to your child, not the other way around. Brookside has given me peace of mind, and as a single mom, that's priceless! It's wonderful!
The school administrator is a greedy person. They replaced a great certified and experienced teacher for a not certified Montessori teacher. French language was advertised to us as part of the curriculum but is taught in very few occasions. The building is in bad shape and they are reluctant to invest any money, even declined help from parents to replace the doors for a safer entry system. The list of disappointments was big enough to take my child out of the school.
I was not impressed with this school at all. The teacher was rude to the children and belittled them when they cried. Furthermore she was also rude to us. I pulled my children out immediately, but the school kept billing us when our children didn't even attend one full day at the school. There are other Montessori alternatives out there in the area, go for one that actually follows the Montessori principles of respect and kindness. This one definitely does not.
Both of my children have attended Brookside. It is a good school with devoted teachers and staff. The classes are very small and the children recieve alot of attention. The learn to work on their own and develop a love for learning. There is a preschool/kindergarten(3-6), Elementary (6-12. They also have wonerful before and after childcare. Overall our kids have learned a wide range of subjects and excelled in the normal subjects. A great school if your children are independent or you want them to be.
