I've been going to Knightdale for four years. I graduate in June. This school is not bad, it's just sad. Most of the positive reviews come from students who graduated in '09. After that class, the school has gone down hill. This school doesn't know how to run itself anymore. Every semester some new plan is put out that fail within weeks or end up hurting students. There are kids in Honors courses who do nothing, but make the honor's students lives hard. The teachers aren't bad, but most aren't good either. Most of the good teachers have been quick to bolt the moment they could because of all of the nonsense that goes on in the building. Personally, I've seen the few fights and be around a good few verbal disputes. The problem isn't just administrative, it's student populous as well. Most of the students don't want to learn therefore they spent the eight hours in the building keeping the rest of us from trying too. There's bullying, name calling, and nasty rumors, but what school doesn't have that. Knightdale isn't bad, but it needs work. Better courses, stable plans, and stronger teachers would do this school some great justice.
It is very irritating to read comments from parents who believe KHS is such a bad school. The entire student body is not carrying around balled up fists and weapons in between classes. There are merely a handful of students that decide to become involved in activities seen as non-conducive to the educational environment, but that is at every school, no matter public, private, or charter. As far as the faculty and staff at the school, I have worked very close with many of them and they are well, if not over, qualified for their positions. There are, just like students, a handful that may be seen as too harsh, or not caring, but there are plenty of opportunities for students, that feel their teacher is not contributing to their success, to get help, or to talk to their counselor about possibilities to address the problems, as well as other programs offered to help students, and even parents, succeed. It is the students that are not involved in anything at the school, and their parents that always have something negative to say. If you send your student to Knightdale High they will graduate with all of the skills needed to become a productive member of society, if they get involved.
I'm currently a senior in High school, I had to transfer out of Knightdale High because of all the gang activity that was going on. I went to Knightdale for 3 years and at first it was a good school but then it went downhill.
This is a great High School to go to then any other High Schools in the Triangle in Raleigh,NC this School is located in Knightdale,NC 27545
Knightdale High School is an excellent opportunity for any kid going to high school. I am currently a sophomore and plan to graduate in 2013 and I don't see the reasons that parents are pointing out because it's the student's job to ask for AP classes not the school's.
I am currently a first year at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I graduated from Knightdale High School with the class of 2009 and I would not have it any other way. People can talk about the leadership and lack of emphasis on honors programs. But what it all comes down to is the motivation of the student. The teachers and administration are there, and its your choice as a student to take advantage. I went to this '4 out of 10' rated school, and I am proud of it, because it got me where I am today. I am a Tarheel, but I will always be a Knight.
I love Knightdale to death. I graduated from there with the class of 2009 and I can honestly say I wouldn't been happier to from any other school. If your child has problems with the school work its because they didn't give it the time of day or didn't take it seriously. The principal cares about the students and the school's image. Student Services work hard to make sure students are prepared for college and so are the teachers. The teachers are there before and after school even during their own lunch to answer any questions you have and will help you. Our test scores may not be best around, but we have all the talent at our school. We have the best actors, singers, dancers, athlethes who rank top 10-15 in the nation, motivationalspeakers, artists, models & musicians. This school is full of spirit. I'm proud to call myself a Knight.
Lack of a variety of AP/Honors classes, and an administration who doesn't place as much emphasis on college prep as is needed.
Knightdale high school gives students the chance to be themselves. Kids there are offered many opportunities to do there best at everything. My daughter has all AP classes and she loves the challenges
Knightdale HS is a good school, I wouldn't say a great school but a good school. Hopefully things will turn around and it will become a great school. My son is an AP studen and is very bored with the work.
