Okay, so we are two currently enrolled students at West Lincoln High. One of us is a junior, the other is a freshman. We think that West Lincoln is one of the best schools ANYBODY could ask for. We are like a big family, and honestly nobody doesn't have 'their group' or whatever. Highschool is highschool, you are going to have drama and bad teachers everyyyyyywhere you go. You can't avoid that. But the teachers of WLHS are great and will help you no matter what. Anybody who DOESN'T like West, obviously is against the move all together. West is a great place. And my gpa is a 4.5 so yeah, don't tell me the teachers aren't great.
I attended West Lincoln for four years, and while I cannot honestly say that I enjoyed every minute of it, I can say that overall made for a great high school experience. While it is true that our mascot is the 'Rebels' I don't feel as if this in anyway commenting on the school's views, it is simply the heritage of a great many of the people who live in the area, an area which is very historically aware. I mean we have a school named 'battleground' because it was build across the road from where the Battle of Ramsour's Mill was fought in the Revolution. But, as far as the school itself is concerned there are few schools with such caring staff, the teachers are concerned about their students and the principal is highly visible around the school. All in all I would recommend this school to anyone.
I once thought WLHS was the place to send your child , but since the new Principal has come in (07-08)My mind has done a 360.I had 3 children that attented WLHS,One still does ,is a Junior,(diff.last name) with a 4.+ GPA, My 2 other children, whom started at WLHS as freshman, now have been thrown out of school with the reasoning that they dont live in the school zone anymore. My children had been attending WLS district for the last 6 years, and when I started questioning the way they diciplined my children for small infractions(tardy for class, bathroom stop before class)example. They didnt like that I questioned them.Punishment is no education for the rest of the day.
As a former alumni of West Lincoln Highschool, I'd have to say that I really wouldn't give up my experience there for anything in the world. I seriously would not have wanted to go to any other school. The teachers are very helpful and make good friends and will remain close contacts beyond your highschool career.
West Lincoln High School is a great school. Yes, People do fly flags, but it's strict and they do get punished for it. Our teachers are great, and so are our students. Everyone's nice and helpful. I currently attend it, this is my sophmore year. I would recommend it to anyone. Some great people came out of our school. They people that fail seem to be the people that dont try. West Lincoln has great spirt and overall makes a GREAT Hight School experience!
West Lincoln is a wonderful school full of caring individuals who are more than happy to help their students. I attended West Lincoln for four years and wouldn't trade any of my experience for the world. At West Lincoln there are no outcasts unless they outcast themselves. I never had to worry about my appearance because simply, no one cared. If my GPA would have become lower I would have realized that maybe West Lincoln was a more challenging academic environment. I loved West Lincoln and all that went with it. The school spirit and school pride created a unity throughout the school that couldn't be broken. I never had to worry about my safety because there was such a low rate of violence. I cherish the years that I was able to spend at West Lincoln and I hope that many more children will have the opportunity that I did.
I would like to comment on Pam's review of WLHS. I believe she is extremely uninformed on many issues. I currently have a GPA over 4.0 and the teachers are of exceptional quality. Whatever slip in grades your child incurred was probably due to emotional stress, not the administration. I would also like to add that students who fly the Confederate Flag or wear it are punished severly. The school in no way condones a racist attitude. If a racist attitude is expressed by anyone, it is a product of that child's upbringing. I can assure you that you will find racism anywhere you take your child.
West Lincoln High School has provided me with some of the best years of my life. Due to this school, I can look back and learn to appreciate and enjoy my adolescent years. The teachers there were great, and are always there for you. I would recommend this school to anyone that is looking to have fun at school in a controlled environment. There may be some racial descrimination, but what school isn't without it. It is pleasing to me, just as I'm sure it is pleasing to others, to know that there is minimal violence relating to race and ethnicity. There is little violence in general.
This is the worst school I could ever recomend. I do not reccomend this school to any one that wants their children to have social equality, or any love for themselves at that. My daughter went to this school and was treated as if she were an alien, and God forbid if she would have been another race other than white, she would've been outcasted even more than she was. This school flies the Conferderate flag as a symbol, and calls themselves the Rebels, not as a symbol of southern heritage. As far as acedemics go, my daughter had a 4.2 before attending this school, and after the last semester she was enrolled there, she walked away with a 2.7 due to Administrative decisions pertaining to her absence during the death of her father, my husband.
