I have a daughter in Royal. She is almost done with her K year. She loves her teacher and doesn't want to go to a different class next year. The PTO has done fun things as well. We are very happy.
The principal is very erratic. I have dealt with and watched her at school events and have observed her during school hours. She appears to be almost bipolar. She is happy one minute and then barking up a tree the next. We are glad that our kids don't havee to go to that school anymore.
Royal is a wonderful school! As a teacher and a parent, I have the opportunity to see Royal from different perspectives. Teachers and support staff pour their hearts, energy, and time into the students, and test results are just one indicator of their success. Students, including my child, enjoy coming to school where safety is a top priority, high academics are expected, and encouragement and fun activities are typical. Administrators and office staff are very helpful, respectful, and proactive. Discipline is handled in a collaborative manner with student-parent-teacher-principal involvement as needed. Parent communication is a priority. While budgets in Franklin County are not that of Wake County Schools, the staff makes up for the discrepancy. GREAT school!
Fantastic staff and the principal and VP are the best also.
My son attens K-garten at Royal, and even though I cannot compare it to another school, I would not want him going anywhere else. From day one I have seen how the teacher's strive to give each student the time that they need. My son recently lost both his father and paternal grandmother, and the school went to great lengths to accomodate him not only while he was out of school, but once he was back in the classroom. The faculty and staff at Royal are wonderful, and I will be forever grateful to them and how they took my son under wing and helped him. From his AR teacher to his AIG teacher, and his wonderful K-garten teacher, thank you so much.
Our family moved from Raleigh, where my 2 children were attending a great Wake County School. Previous to that they were in a christian academy. Both were great for them. We were very skeptical about having them attending Royal, but have ended up loving it. Mostly because the kids love it so much. That says the most about a school. If it is not a great, caring environment, the children will not be happy. They have showered our children with love and have been very nice and respectful to my husband as well as myself. The cirriculum seems to be a step or two behind their previous school, but I believe the other school pushed the children too fast anyhow and had them do way too much homework. Hours of homework is not good for elementary kids. They are still learning what they need and more. The principal is always happy and helpful too.
I love this school. It's clean, and the teachers and faculty are so nice. I am so happy that my two daughters get to attend.
I think some of the teachers there could be a little respectful to their students.
