Edward Best is the BEST school in NC. The teachers and staff treat every child with respect and are so warm and inviting to the children and parents. 3 of my children attended Edward Best until we had to relocate. It was a heart breaking day for our family to have to say goodbye to the kindest school family anyone could ask for. The teachers are all amazing and really put their heart into your child. If your child is failing, they are failing as well and will do everything they can to remedy the situation and offer extra support. If you have a child that is in EC, this is where you want to be.... Mrs.Greene and Ms.Jones are two amazing women. We miss them more and more everyday. The staff at Edward best is irreplaceable . Your child will have the best education in a small town setting here. You can not ask for a better school !

Not a great school if you have a special needs child. Look for ratios of suspended kids with special needs compared to state average

We were pleasantly surprised with this school. Our third grader had been in a private school the past three years in Pitt County, so it has been an adjustment. From the first day visiting the school, we have been impressed by the entire staff. They focus intensely on academics. My only concern is that they do 'teach to the test,' clearly with the goal of doing well at End Of Grade testing. I'm sure there are challenges as this school is in an economically challenged area. But I feel better about this school than any of the public schools in Greenville, NC

This is a wonderful caring school. One of the best I have ever seen. Just a little country school. Everyone cares about the students education.

I am an intern student enrolled at Edward Best School and I am also a substitute teacher. For many years teachers from this very same school have made me what I have become today. Even though some of the teachers may be different, but the moral and standard of teaching has not. I am very proud to say that this school has even inspired me to move up in the area becoming a teacher because of what I learned from the teachers here. Teachers such as Ms. Duncan, Ms. Nelms, and Mr. Alston. THANK YOU!!

As indicated in the Franklin Times today, this is a great school with a great leader!!! I'm glad that some find it necessary to pull their children out and send to another school. At least this may reslove the over capacity problem the school currently has.

I have 2 children attending Ed Best. I will be pulling them out at the start of winter break. I'm very unsatisfied with the curriculum, and teaching to the lowest level student. My suggestion is to find another school.

I don't care for this school. They don't care about the students as much as they should. Its just about getting through the day. My child went from making all A's to making C's & D's here. Once I pulled my son from this school his grades went right back up to all A's. If you are concidering placing your child at this school, Please concider another option.

My kids have been going to EBES for a combined 6 years. They have programs for gifted kids as well as for slow learners. The principal is always available to talk to parents and she knows almost every child's name. Parents are emcouraged to be involved. The school needs some renovation and a larger cafeteria.

Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school's profile?

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
