This is our 7th year at Covenant Day. We have three children in Middle School and Lower School. I attended one of the "top" private schools here in Charlotte but it was not a Christian school. We felt strongly that Covenant Day would provide the best education for our children and we have not been disappointed. Our kids learn Singapore Math and Shurley Grammar and Latin. It is academically challenging but unique to other private schools in the area because the teachers incorporate Biblical truth in their teaching. Covenant Day is less expensive than other private schools in our area so the value of this school is amazing.
Covenant Day has been a blessing to our family. We are regularly impressed with the quality of the academics as we see what our children are learning, and are thrilled to know that the values we teach at home are being reinforced at school as our children are taught to view all subjects with a Biblical worldview. Our family has been at CDS for 9 years and each of our three children has attended since Kindergarten. The teachers have loved our children well and encouraged our family over the years. We are thankful for Covenant Day's continued commitment to excellence and recommend them highly!
Covenant Day School is the perfect fit for our family. We have four children who attend CDS in High School, Middle School, and Lower School. We have been at CDS for 10 years. I would not consider sending them anywhere else. The teachers are nurturing, loving, extremely qualified and genuinely concerned about the spiritual, academic and emotional development of their students. Because of the way the school integrates biblical thinking into every subject matter, my children are learning that Christ is not a separate part of their life but is in all things. They are being well-prepared for college or anything else they may want to pursue. The smaller class size allows the teachers to really meet each child where they are. There is also a real sense of community among the school's families. CDS has a great outward focus, too, teaching the children that service to the community and beyond should be a part of their life. Wonderful school!
Covenant Day promotes academic excellence with a Christian world view. The teachers are committed, loving and excellent. The lower and middle school facilities need updating, but I'm not as interested in external buildings as much as the education, physical and spiritual growth of my four children. My wife and I paid a college admissions specialist for 3 hours of her time to teach us processes for application and financial scholarships. She said that CDS is the best all around school in the area. We agree.
All four of my children attend Covenant Day School. This is our 10th year at the school and we could not be more pleased with CDS's partnership with us in training our children from a Biblical worldview. The unwillingness to sacrifice either academic excellence or Biblical worldview for the sake of the other is a hallmark of CDS. We recently moved to Matthews so we could be closer to CDS and our church. CDS has had a profound impact on the lives of my children and the lives of my wife and me.
My husband and I were career educators and as grandparents, we are so impressed with the quality education our grandchildren are receiving at Covenant Day School. The teachers are dedicated, capable and loving. As committed Chrisitans, we are delighted with the solid Bible-based teaching. The principals and school head demonstrate outstanding leadership.
I went to an Ivy League school and am extremely pleased with the academics, the teachers, the environment and the economic diversity of the families who are part of the CDS community. This is an excellent school on all levels--
This school is the best kept secret in Charlotte. The academics are just as good as Charlotte Latin at a fraction of the cost. They actually use the a lot of the same curriculum. Every aspect of the education of children is considered...from D'Nealian handwriting in kindergarten, to Singapore Math, to Shurley grammar...everything is done to make sure our kids are getting the best of the best academically. And then when you add that to a place that actually cares about you like family, and teaches with a Biblical perspective...I don't know how you could do any better. The academics are challenging, and sometimes that isn't for every family...but you'll definitely know your kids are getting a A+ education for a tremendous value. The Administration is nothing other than amazing. While every family has a different experience and needs to do what is right for them, CDS has been the best thing to happen to our family. Part of me even wonders if the reviews here that are negative are even real...they are so farfetched in my opinion. I cannot say enough things about how wonderful this school is.
We moved our children to CDS from public school 4 years ago and have been so thankful that we did. The difference in the curriculum and individual attention is astounding. There is also such a sense of community that does not compare to other schools we have visited/toured. Each and every faculty and staff member has given me the confidence that they are truly dedicated to providing the best education and environment for my children. I agree with the other review, the negative comments sound too farfetched to be factual. This school is a great buy and one of the best investments you will every make.
Not impressed. This school has really slipped. Our child attended here and had a very rough time due to a serious lack of supervision at Kindergarten and extended Kindergarten. In EK, they had one teacher supervising way too many kids, and she would actually leave the kids alone while she attended to something else. In this environment, there was a lot of bullying and inappripriate behavior by the students. The academics were very mediocre. Definitely not worth the money.
