Overall, we had a good experience with the teachers. Most were superb. The college guidance counselors are OUTSTANDING.

Academically, the school is very strong. I can not deny that. The problems come in the social area.

Again, the affluent kids learn that their money will buy their way around. They don't need to work hard; Just pay their way to all kinds of privileges and recognition. A handful of less affluent students will learn about determination and persistence because their parents will teach them to be real fighters and will not allow them to quit. That's where these students develop their grit --at home!

Develops empathy: Disagree

SOME students do develop a sense of compassion and caring but, again, it is mostly among the less affluent kids. The affluent ones learn that money will buy you a Lexus and make you the king and queen of the school. Let others do the hard work.

The school teaches that, if you have money, Mommy and Daddy will get you whatever you want. If you don't have money you have to accept The Lord's "will".

We have 2 kids there, 3rd grade and kindergarten. It is a wonderful environment where our children have enjoyed learning. The teachers are compassionate and are excellent Christian role models. We feel that the kids are safe there in the loving environment. There are opportunities for them to excel in reading with the AR program and programs such as math olympics, spelling bee and speech meet have helped stretched them. The dress code is strict, which we like. Have had no problems with bullying, which is not tolerated there. Glad also that it goes through high school. Highly recommend especially when the children are young and impressionable!

We pulled our child after attending CCS for three years. Our child was taught through worksheets and very little actual teaching. The admin actually stuck up for their teacher after we complained about unprofessional behaviors and emails. Our child attended a different school this year and needed special attention to items that were never even covered at this school. Very disappointed regarding the academics and staff.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this school! It has everything my high schoolers could ask for with a secure, "family" feel . The teachers really know their students and take time to help them grow academically, socially and spiritually. The fine arts department is rapidly growing along with the sports program. We are very happy here.

Very upset with this school. Took my daughter out because she has been verbally bullied by her peers for years. No support from administration. I expect more from a Christian school

We had our children at CCS earlier this Fall, and experienced a loving staff and families enrolled along with us. However, as the months went by we realized that our 11 year old and 8 year old had almost no homework they had HWK 2 nights per week, occasionally)! Our children were very uncomfortable with the lack of structure in their classrooms, everything was "too free". Not only that, but also the focus seemed to be on prayer and missions in the classes- with very little instruction on academics, if any. This is a wonderful school, socially and morally, but if you want your child to be prepared for High School and college, I advise you to tread lightly!

My daughter is a 3rd grader at Carmel. She has been at 3 different christian based privates schools over the past few years. We have finally found the perfect school for her. We absolutely love Carmel!!! The teachers, principal, and staff are awesome. The facility is beautiful. The afterschool offers lots of extracurricular activities as well as community service events for the kids. The curriculum is challenging which is exactly what we want for our children. The tuition is extremely reasonable for such a wonderful school. We feel blessed to have discovered this school. We are thrilled with the addition of the high school and plan to stay at Carmel for her entire school years.

If you are looking for a solid Christian education with great academics this is it. An added bonus is the low tuition (much lower than many of the private schools here). My child loves going to school. He received a solid foundation for reading in K. He is nurtured but disciplined as needed. You can feel the joy the staff has in educating the children. Parents are very involved.

Carmel Christian School is a wonderful school. My children have learned so much. They feel that Carmel is home away from home. The teachers and staff care about the children. They are continue to look for ways to improve the school. The headmaster has an open door policy. He is always eager to learn how he can make improvements in the school. We love Carmel and highly recommend it.

Profile Completeness

INTERMEDIATE

Want to improve this school's profile?

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.
