Profile Completeness

Want to improve this school’s profile? You can!

All schools on GreatSchools begin with BASIC completeness, which includes important information like contact details and test scores. It’s up to the school community to take the next steps. As a parent or community member, you can share what you know with other families by writing a review or answering a few questions about what the school offers. As a school leader, you can upload photos, describe school programs, and more with an Official school profile.

The completeness meter moves to INTERMEDIATE, then ADVANCED, and finally HONOR ROLL as you complete the following: 10 or more reviews, at least 1 photo, and 9 program questions parents find helpful.

I'm currently a Junior at McMichael & honestly, it's not that bad. A lot of students say they dislike this school because the teachers are mean, it's dull, etc., but in reality, they probably just aren't focused enough in class (or in general) to realize how decent this school really is. Many of the teachers here are absolutely wonderful, and actually tell you what you need to know for the EOCs. Dr. Whitley, the principal, has done an excellent job at keeping the school nice. I cannot stress enough how much i appreciate this school and all of its staff. Contrary to popular belief, many of the teachers are creative and easy to get along with as long as the students don't disrupt classes or have sour attitudes. I truly recommend McMichael over the other high schools in Rockingham County.

I'm a freshman at McMichael, and let me tell you - it is a dump. The school is borderline disgusting. We've got a growing insect problem, and that doesn't include the teachers, whom, by the way, are mainly mean. Every teacher instructs right out of the book. There is no creativity, and they all look like they hate their job. Passionate teachers? We don't have them, except, of course, for Ms. Carlisle, the Journalism/Yearbook teacher. She's great. I digress... If you want to do your kids a favor and actually have them learn, put them in a private school, or quit your job (you're going to be fired anyway) and homeschool them. Either of those is better than McMichael, honestly.

Teachers only teach book material to prepare for EOC's. This school is in dire need of good math teachers, but overall, there are still a few all-around good teachers in each subject. I would reccommend Mcmichael over any other Rockingham County school, but if you're given a choice, Guilford County schools generally have higher test scores, and better teachers.

My son graduated in the top 25 and is studying engineering in college as a result of the strong academic focus on McMichael. My daughter is there now as a 9th grader and is getting the same high quality education.

One- if not the best school in Rockingham County. Not only academicly, but all-around. The Air Force JROTC program at McMichael is probably the best of many of McMichael's fine attributes. There is an excellent teaching staff, all except one math teacher [Glenda Angel] More than just book material is taught at McMichael High School- character, leadership, communications, and athelitic skills are honed to their best at McMichael High School. The school has two fine assistant principals-but the head principal should (quite frankly) be a janator. But, all-in-all I would have not objectons to my child going to a fine school- such as McMichael High School.
