My kids went to SME and I was not too happy with the experience so we left. I really felt as if they had no idea who my kids were the entire time they were there. The environment is very depressing. It seems as if they cater to the less than adverage student...one day I was there and the principal yelled over the loud speaker about how some student received a 100% on a spelling test..my daughter had straight A's every test since Kindergarten and no one made any anouncement about this! What about the kids who always do what they are supposed to...no not mentioned. I really don't even think they knew her name...sad.

The staff at SME are talented, loving, and truly enjoy what they do. This shows in the kids' attitudes and test scores. This is a best of the best in public education!

Welcomed our son 1/2 way through the year and made school a positive experience (finally)! Instrumental in rebuilding his self-esteem and has helped him grow academically in a very short time.

It has a wonderful environment for student learning. The principal knows all the students names and encourages lots of interaction. Music and art are supported with a full time faculty member. My daugher loves it there.

My family and I are new residence to NC and our son enrolled in s. mebane in mid march, this year.In our experience with S.Mebane it's a very good school, with lots of warm and caring staff members. Our son loves school at s. mebane. He looks forward to going daily. He speaks highly of his teacher. The school is clean. The children that goes to S. Mebane are even well respectful, helpful and warm friendly children, just like the staff. We are really pleased to have met S. Mebane. We are proud to be here, and we look forward to a full school year this up-coming year. We love the small school setting, it gives our child a wonderful chance of learning. Overall what a great place to be in, to have to learn! Thumbs up S. Mebane The Carter family

Great school. Principal is very active and knows most if not all of the students by name. Dedicated staff as well as a warm loving environment to learn. Chorus, drama and clogging are after school activities. Strong computer classes for all grades. Great PTA and parental involvement. Great little school but growing!

South Mebane became a School of Excellence for the 2003-2004 school year. This means that 90 percent of the students taking the EOGs performed at grade level. The school is smaller than average, which is great! It makes the school community closer and it causes people to want to help others. Though there could be more extracurricular activities, I'm very happy my child is going to this warm, loving school.
