The teachers, staff, & principal. These educators believe in helping all students. It doesn't matter if the student excels in all subjects as mine does or if the child has a learning disability requiring extra help as my oldest child did who also attended this school. The entire staff are there for EVERY student. They also encourage communication between the teachers and parents through phone calls, parent/teacher meetings, and even email. Every teacher, guidance counselor, and principal/vice-principal has email access. Each are adamant about answering their emails from parents and from students. The school also has specific pages set up for each teacher to post assignments, upcoming tests, and projects in order to help students remember as well as letting each parent look for themselves to find out what their child must do in each class. There is a reason Micro-Pine Level Elementary, North Johnston Middle, & North Johnston High are the best schools in this county: It is the staff members who work at the school and the fact that everyone cares about the students as people in addition to their academic success. It is the reason we moved to this district. Our oldest child graduated in 2006 after having gone through all three schools in this district then went on to college. She graduates with two degrees, one in December 2010 and the other in the spring of 2011. Our youngest has a terrific chance at winning a scholarship if she maintains her A-honor roll status not to mention having recently been inducted into the Junior Honors Society. The school also believes in peer learning too. It is easier for a child to get through to a child in some cases than a parent to a child. This system has worked miracles in this school. It is something I hope they continue for as long as the doors are open because it works; I've witnessed it work.
