A few years ago, when my first child was there, I rated this school 5 stars. The teacher quality remains the same with most teachers remaining there. The current leadership (principal) pales in comparison to the previous principal. The current principal manages the school very well from an administrative standpoint. What is missing is true leadershiip - motivating students and faculty, a supporting and caring attitude, developing staff to assume more responsibility, appreciating his staff, his students and his parents. He isn't warm and the school is not as inviting as it was. Having said that, the school is still above and beyond others due to their awesome teachers. Parents would probably get more involved if the principal was nicer. He also has a tendency to focus on minor issues, making a mountain out of a mole hill. He goes overboard on dress code, for example. But, he will allow bullying to go unpunished (if he knows the bully's parent). The previous principal set such a high standard. He is truly missed.

This is the best school I've ever been to. The teachers are considerate, caring, and very supportive. I've been to many schools in my life, but this is by far the best one !!!!!!

I think South Davie is on of the best schools in North Carolina. The teachers make you want to go to school. The homework is just the right amount. But the amount of time to eat your lunch is to short. Also we need more time to get to classes and have time to go to our locker. The track also needs to be changed because we can not go outside if it just rained even if it is a very nice day.

I think that south davie is a great environment for children to learn. I just think that some of the teachers shouldn't be so strict on the dresscodes. I also think that south davie needs an asphalt track like every other middle school.
