Cape Lookout is a wonderful school where the staff actually care about their students. They serve the community well by providing a alternative to public school, especially to the students who, for whatever reason, are not thriving in a traditional setting.

Cape Lookout was the best thing that ever happened to my 2 daughters! Mrs. Smith is so intune with the students and parents. My children were not 'sent' to Cape, I chose the school for them because of it's small class size and the dedication of the teachers. They were wonderful!! Both my girls have graduated, my youngest this year. They learned so much more at Cape Lookout than just how to pass a test. They learned patience, understanding and respect. I will be very sad to see to see Cape Lookout close. It will be a great loss to many students. I feel that those who are not senoirs this year will not ever graduate. Feeling that they have again been let down by the education system. I am so glad my girls had the chance to attend such a wonderful school with such inthusiastic teachers and staff!

I think that this school is the best school in the state. I have been able to improve my grades and the teachers are able to help every student individually unlike other schools who don't care. Mrs. Smith is an amazing person. She cares about all of her students and takes them in when they can't go to any other school and gives them a chance to get a GREAT education.

My son has attended this school for about a year and a half. He has made wonderful progress and has grown a lot since his first days at Cape Lookout. Susan Smith should be named Principal of the Year in Carteret County. She's tough when she needs to be and has an excellent staff. Hers is not an easy job, but she cares so much for these kids that she's not giving up even when others have. I love this school and all the people that work there. This school is definitely for the kids that 'fall through the cracks' in other schools, the kids that don't fit into the traditional learning environment and the ones that feel like they're hitting one brick wall after another in a traditional environment. Unfortunately, this school may close because they need to move to a new location which has yet to be found. Elizabeth Murdoch

I think this school is best for children that need more one on one attention. The staff members are very understanding and compassionate. Issues are dealt with immediately and properly. I believe CLHS is safe and efficient. -S.Mister-Dimsey
