While many of the teachers at Mount Gilead Elementary School try their best, the area is not the most affluent. The school is underfunded, the students apathetic, and the teachers stressed. The parent involvement usually falls upon a select few, which is possibly a result of parents feeling as if they have little or no voice in their child's education. The principal is not very approachable, and does not seemingly welcome parent input. Although it is true that test scores and rating don't always tell the whole story, in this case, they're very indicative of the school as a whole.
Mount Gilead Elementary School has been a wonderful experience for my three children. Previously we were paying for a private school and not seeing much improvement. We switched to the public Mount Gilead School and have been extremely happy with our decision. The teachers and staff are exceptional. All three of my children have excelled. Numbers and ratings don't always tell the whole story.. this school is warm, inviting, and truly concerned about your child's education.
