I loved my time at Murphy it has some small problems like all schools but Murphy is by far the best school in the area. Quality teachers and quality athletics which cultivates hard work, a winning attitude, and great memories. If I had it to do over again I would still go to Murphy I have friends in Andrews school system and the drug problem there is very bad due in large part to the poverty in Andrews and I know for a fact those problems exist because I am in Law Enforcement. If I had kids I would either send them to Murphy or Swain county but probably Murphy.

When my children went here we encountered the same thing many others have said - they have a fine athletic program. While athletics are important, so are academics and they are sadly overshadowed by the athletics. We found drugs to be such a problem there that my children chose to transfer to nearby Andrews High School.

I believe that Murphy High School is the best school i have ever been too. The teachers there for the most part are so caring and loving. And the students are so cool. There sports achieve so high. And they have a high level in acedemics.

My daughter transferred into Murphy last year. I must say that I have been very impressed with all of the teachers and staff. They were most supportive as she was expecting a baby and they did everything possible to see that she had good outcomes emotionally and academically. I give the school an A+++!

My daughter also attended Murphy High School and the previous 'commenters' are right; it has a great athletic program. Unfortunately, if you are not an athlete then you just aren't. There is very little interest in academic excellence; very little encouragment if the student is not with the 'in' crowd. I know this happens at all schools, but it seems to be especially rampant at Murphy.

The atmosphere is less than friendly and students are often treated as the enemy by some teachers and office personnel. I think there is a lot that could be done to improve the hospitality of the school. There are a few young teachers that are really trying to relate to the students but they battle a long established bully mentality in the older staff members.

My daughter loved this school. Murphy High has an amazing athletics program for both boys and girls and some of the best teachers in the state. If you want your child to attend a high school in western nc. Murphy is definetly the best!
