This school is an awesome school. The arts curriculum at this school enhances the students' understanding of core subjects through the integration of the different disciplines. The principal is wonderful and has the best interest of the students and his staff in mind. The teachers are helpful and understand the needs of their children.

The teachers here are not unified so lesson planning and grade level work is often not done as well as it could be. Lots of teachers are new and many others don't want to stay. There are a few good areas but overall, I wouldn't put this scholl at the top of your list in New Bern. Out of the 6 public elementary schools in New Bern, I would put it about third or fourth. This school requires school uniforms, has dance, music, drama, P.E., and art mandatory for all students. It is heading in the right direction with new programs being available often. The tax base in the area is very low, so funding is currently a problem at this school. There were 6 fundraisers this year. Not a bad school and has few disciple problems, but I would look elsewhere for a better tax base and teachers who get along.
