Oak Ridge Military Academy

I love, love, love this school. The changes I've seen in my son over this past year have been incredible. The school not only teaches a rigorous course of study, it instills real values in these youth as well. I would recommend this school to everyone, especially if your child is in need of additional school help! I love ORMA!

We sent our son to Oak Ridge on Jan, 2, 2012. His problem was was with self-discipline in his schooling. He has never been a trouble maker; he simply didn't do his school work. Oak Ridge has the structure and leadership that he wants and needs. He has greatly improved his grades and is working to increase his military rank as well. He thrives in the atmosphere because he now has the ability to work to earn higher positions and he strives for leadership roles. Looking at the other cadets, those who were trouble before attending ORMA appear to still be trouble. But those who just need the structure and need to get away from the distractions of TVs and video games everywhere really do well at ORMA. Now our weekends with our son are all fun. No more yelling about homework or bad grades! It has been a blessing for our whole family. And... we are thrilled to see the pride he now has in himself! He's becoming a man of honor! This is good for him and for our country.

I was very disappointed in the school. The teachers and academics are good, but the administration is sub-par. The staff lost my child's medications on more than one occassion and could never seem to track when she needed refills. Communication was TERRIBLE! When she was injured, I wasn't notified until she was on the verge of being admitted to the hospital. She had an eye infection that left her with permanent loss of vision. This could have been avoided had she been taken to the doctor as soon as she told them she needed to be. Calls are rarely returned, and when Colonel Lewis does return a phone call it takes at least 3-4 days. Extremely unprofessional!

I attended this school from 92-93 and let me tell you what a horrible experience it was, I can't speak for the way it is run now but at the time the school accepted any enrollment it could get and giving current economic times I bet it still does. It was full of some of the worst trash the world has to offer. I can remember vividly students rushing into my room in the middle of the night and beating my roommate with a tennis racket while he was sleeping and broke his hand. Where was the staff when this took place? I soon left this school after this as it was the last but not only reason for me. I went on to serve in the US Army where I learned what the real meaning of discipline is. Paraents sent your children here if you must but may I suggest you seak out other options!

Sending my son to ORMA at the start of his freshman year was the best decision I have ever made in my life. He has developed into a respectful, fine and caring student who now strives for excellence. My son is showing leadership skills that ORMA brought out in him. I truly believe that there are two doors a student can go through and, based on that choice, turn out completely different. I am very greatful for the day that my son walked thru the door of ORMA. He is happy, adjusted, has developed great frienships, is focused, and earning excellent grades. He has an extremely bright future ahead of him. He knows the teachers and faculty care about him and his successs and that means so much to a mother. Thank you ORMA.

I love this school despite the early mornings. This is my 4th year here and I never really want to leave. The school is great at preparing me for what is going to come later in life. I know that I can deal with any challenge that I have to face. I now have the confidence, the maturity, and the self-dicipline to make the most of my life.

Oak Ridge Military is the greatest college preparatory school in North Carolina. There is no student unable to get into a college of their choice. The academy is geared toward getting students ready for college. Plus the academy help develop them into leadership and teaches them discipline. I love working and teaching at the academy.

The faculty and staff are very caring. We have struggled financially and they worked for 6 weeks without pay. Academics are top notch and the structure provided by the military wing keeps everyone on task. My son loves the school, despite the rules!

The history behind this fine Military School is of great significance. The academics and skill building is great for pre-college education and discipline.

Love the school, the environment and the current administration - 2009. I get regular updates from teachers and administrators, and I have seen nice improvement in my child's maturity since arriving there. They offer a wide range of activities for such a small institution and, due to the small enrollment, a child can participate in almost any activity that's available. Also tough to beat the discipline in a military school so that it something individual parents need to decide on.
