I rate this school a 1 star because it wouldn't allow me to rate it a quarter of a star. My daughter was told that she couldn't wear hair bows at this school, and no tank tops period, not even under a shirt. A student was sent home this morning because she wore a tank top under a large shirt. And there are random searches of girls purses. It is becoming hard for me to send my child to this school. It makes no sense. And no one answers the phone at the superintendent's office and they don't return phone calls.

I know we have the lottery now in NC but why do most of the kids not have books? My child gets PDFs emailed to her because they do not have enough books in several of her classes. My daughter went to school with a hole in the knee of her pants. The jeans were old and I haven't been able to afford to get new school clothes this year, but she was sent home and told that if she shows up to school with those jeans on again, she would be suspended. Something is clearly wrong here, my daughter is in the Beta Club and the Honor Society. Don't send your child here.

I agree that strong bonds can be made here at my school and yes the football program is good as well. But I am more concerned with my education than with doing what my peers are doing. Lots of them are into their clothes, or getting a boyfriend and that is good too, we have to live our lives but thinking about after high school if important too. The restrictions and rules they make up here are just wrong.

I agree with alot of what my fellow purnell students say. I am a 10th grader who attends purnell. i moved there from california my ninth grade year and started out my high school life at purnell. Being at Purnell is a state of that you have to get used to. It does have great classes but lots of the students don't seem to see it that way. Just as at other schools, media has given schools a bad name and many people at purnell think this stereotype is true. However, once incorperated into the school, you will find that people most everyone is very cool when the want to be and strong bonds can be made. The football program is awesome by the way. They just set up a website for the football program and the community really gets into the games

As a stuent of Purnell Swett, I have to say its a good place to go to school. Despite first impressions, its not a bad place. There really is community and business support, especially for the sports programs like Football, Basketball, and Baseball. Not only is there support for sports, but for academics as well. Not all students come from rough backgrounds, but even those who do have an opportunity to take rigorous classes. And if classes aren't available on campus there are online classes made available. This school does its best to see to it that its students succeed.

I am a former student of Purnell Swett High School and i loved every minute i was there. The teachers were great and they made me feel like they wanted to be there. I learned so much about life and love and what i wanted to do with my life. I wouldn't never trade anything for the time i spent there.

I'm not a parent but a student at Purnell Swett. Everyone has something negative to say about 'my' school, but it isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Yes, there's been some conflict out there, but that's at every school, it just isn't made public. Not everyone in this world has to opportunity to attend school, and make something of themselves, so i appreciate Purnell Swett and the change it's made in my life.

Overall it is a great school, its just that the students dont appreciate how good they actually have it at school. They really have a great school life. Alot of friends and family that attend along with them but they want to make sure everyone out there has a miserable 4 years they are there.
