I have a child who is aspersgers syndrome. Last year was a great. His year went pretty smooth. This year he is having trouble. His grades are dropping and some of the teachers do not follow his 504.I believe that the teacher should be more knowledgeable of what is on the child's ieps and 504s and make sure they are following.them. I don't feel the support as I felt last year. I have also had some issues with bullying at school and on the bus. One kid bullied my child for the first part of.the year so bad and I don't feel enough was done about this. Bullying is wrong. My son was also. accused of intentionally throwing something at another student and this was not try and was suspended and not able.to attend the dance. Some teachers are too quick to blame and accuse My son is far fro. perfect but he is autistic aspergers and one quality is they don't lie. This is a problem. thank you

I cannot say anything bad about this school. My oldest son has aspergers syndrome and has not had anything but support And if you are a parent who is on top of things as I am things will happen. His self esteem is building up and he is opening up . He enjoys going to school. Pro lems are dealt with. If you stay with them. Be there for you child at home and stay connected at school. Thank you.

RUN, don't walk away from this school!! This school is terrible!!! My son was an A/B (occasional C-in Math) student. He is now making D's and F's. You get very little if any help from teachers. He has been bullied on the bus and in gym class. The students bullying were talked to by the administration but they were not suspended. My son is a great kid. He has been praised my teachers at every school he has attended. He was playing a silly game with some boys where they rubbed themselves with a pencil eraser. I was called by a school social worker on Friday because of this my son is "self mutilating" can not return to school until he is cleared by a Dr. Anyone with half a brain can tell my child is happy and healthy both mentally and physically and comes from a loving home! I am furious. Children who are a threat to others can remain at school while my child is punished for being a kid! These people at this school are total NUT jobs! Your child will not be happy here!!!

I had the misfortune of working at this school for 3+ years. The teachers do not receive support from the administration regarding behavior issues. Many of the teachers do not like each other and will argue in front of students. Students are bullied on a daily basis by other students and teachers and the administration does nothing about it. If you can....run as far away as you can from EHMS. You would be better sending your child to West Hoke Middle if you must...or better yet...send them to a private school or homeschool. Your child will have a miserable existence here and will receive a sub par education...if any.

HOW is this school rated 7 out of 10?!?! This is by far the WORST school I have ever had the misfortune of having one of my children attend! The faculty and staff are more disrespectful than the children that go there! Ignorance is abundant as well as an attitude from the people in the office to the teachers themselves! For all of you out there considering this school for your children, your best bet id to get out of Hoke County as fast as you can!

I have had two of my four children attend this school and it is deplorable. The school LOOKS good; kudos to the Janitorial staff, but I have yet to meet ONE Administrator who is pupil and/or parent friendly, especially the Principal. She is just plain rude, mean and has a God complex. One of the office staff even spread rumors about my son and he heard her do it! I have tried working with teachers and Admin with no success; argument all the way unless you fit into that one group. The teachers? Calling them teachers is a big stretch. My youngest child went from straight A's to near failing when he entered the 6th grade and was still struggling for teacher help when he left the 8th grade. There is one PE Coach, the wrestling Coach, who is a real genuine person and teacher. Too bad he can't save the school alone. Sports? The director does not return phone calls or emails and makes parents feel like they are interfering and she is mean to the kids. The main sports coaches have their one group, if your child is not part of group, they don't matter and the coaches drive them out on purpose. The staff are even in cliques and drive one another out. I regret ever moving to this county.

We are new to the area. My husband and I tried to register our children for this school four times and was unsuccessful each time. the first time, we were told to come back in June. The second time, we were told to come back in July. The third, we were told to come back after August 1st. On the fourth attempt, we were told to come back after August 16th. The staff very unresponsive and would not explain why we couldn't register our children. We were able to register them at West Hoke Middle. The staff was great and very helpful. Hopefully West Hoke will be a good fit for our children.

this school is horrible, not to mention most of the teachers!!! i have heard from several parents and students(mine included) that the teachers humiliate the children by singling them out in front of the peers..also i left 3 messages 3 days in a row for a teacher to call me about a book that was taken from my daughter, needless to say she never called back and my daughter was unable to do her math. to make matters worse she would not give her a book to finish her class work!!!! ughhh it so frustrating that my daughters grades suffered because of this...ive noticed in this school if your not teachers pet you wont get to far!

My child was always an A,B student until she attended this school. The teachers have systematically destroyed her confidence and self esteem. It seems the only things the teachers do well at, is criticize and humiliate the children in front of their peers. Trying to work with the teachers to help your child succeed is nearly impossible. They seem not to want to be bothered by concerned parents. I have only seen 1 teacher in the entire school who was actually concerned for the students well being and cared about their academic success. If you have a choice, please do not entrust your children to the so called "professionals" in this school. You will certainly regret it.

It is sad to say that this is suppose to be the best middle school in the district. My child has lost so much self pride attending this school because of the teacher put down's and bullying that goes on in this school that something has to change. When a parent attends a teacher conference and the teacher looks at her watch while you are discussing your child's academics then you know that if they cannot respect you as the parent then you can imagine what our children are going through. I am truly considering a private school for 8th grade because one more year at this school for my daughter would probably break her. As a parent I am determined to pay whatever it costs for my child's education instead of allowing the staff at this school let my child fall through the cracks and end up an uneducated adult.

My student attends this school and except for the principal and a few great teachers this school does not respect the students or care about the students academics. My child went from a A,B student and in 2 years has went down hill so fast it is scary. I had to have my child removed from one teacher and placed with another where here grades did improve so that shows you if the staff don't care about the children then they should no longer be teaching. Its an unjustice for our children.

My daughter has always been a straight A student and thanks to East Hoke her grades are falling. The teachers behave very unprofessionally and the upper management will do nothing about it. She used to like school, now it's a fight every day. It's a shame. Something should be done about the poor faculty at this school!

East Hoke middle school should be called east joke. they do not enforce the bullying law. The children in that school have no rights. They also put the children on lockdown when one child messes up they all suffer the consequences. THEY ALLOW BULLYING

Im a proud parent and i am sick of the principals just handing out discibline referrals like it nothing. And half the time its for nothing like 2 days iss for chewing gum or talking i understand if they did it stilll after you warned them 2 or more times but just then is wrong. the principals and teachers need to get their act to gather and start talking about thing than trying to get the child out of there office or room as fast as they can. I say this because they do not understand that their little gruge has cost my sons future b/c everything go's on his or her records.

I have to agree with the below comments, my child has attended this school for 2 years, and I have to say it is a poor excuse for education. The teachers do not communicate with parents on child's progress or issues they may be having. You cant even get them to email let alone call even when you request information. The students are out of control, there is no authority. They only pay attention to students that score high on test otherwise you child is not a concern. None of the staff is responsive to include principal. I just had a serious incident occur there with my child their main concern was saving face, I was not informed of the outcome of the problem like I was told I would be. If you have a choice I recommend you do not have your children attend any hoke county school system.

This has been the worst school any of my 3 children have attended. Some of the staff are not helpful to the point of rude, teachers do not contact parents when messages are left for them and I was not impressed with the principal when I had a conversation about my child, nor did she get back to me like she said she would, as well as the guidance counselor who never got back to me after 2 phone calls. I could see my child just falling through the huge cracks in this school system. I had to drive him to school for when they returned from summer break because no bus came for him, I went to the Open house prior to school started, signed him up and no bus for a week (he had been picked up the previous year). I had to call several times before resolved

I think this school is not a good school the teachers always yell at the students and treat the kids like they are 4 years old i think the teachers and staff at east hoke need to grow up and treat us as students better and maybe we would not be as bad, kids usally be bad becasue they want the teacher to yell at them, they think its funny so if the teachers would quit yelling and just talk and be reasonible we would proble be a better school than we are now...

It appears there is a strict code of conduct for the pupils but none for the teachers. Students must respect teachers, as it should be, but teachers don't respect the students and don't listen to them. AG students are expected to know more and it appears teachers are less willing to help them when they struggle. There is absolutely no communication between teacher and parent except on Parent-Teacher conference day.

As a teacher I am considering leaving the county to teach elsewhere to remove my child from this school. This school is not one I would recommend. My child is an honor student and tends to not cause trouble. This school has ruined his self esteem and has had nothing but a negative impact on him and his career as a student. The students in the school are all considered to be 'bad'. I have a big problem with the negativity displayed from the administration. The buses are not safe and there seems to be a lot of problems stemming from the buses. The only great thing in the school is the secretary, Mrs. Cunningham.

I am very disappointed with the Hoke county middle school. My son has always been an A & B student and this is his first year at EHMS and he is almost failing. I cannot get the teachers to return my calls, when I request a meeting at the school only one or two of his teachers show up. One of his teachers I have never seen before. The turn over rate is horrible and the students are out of control. I feel the teachers are too busy with disipline troubles and not able to teach. Most of the parents are not helping matters. I am not saying my son is not at all in fault but over half the problem comes from the staff. This county needs help. The children are suffering. This was the first and the last year my children will attend Hoke county schools.

I have had 2 children attend EHMS, and a 3rd begins 6th grade there this year. I have general good opinions of the faculty and staff, but am not at all impressed with North Carolina or Hoke County Schools. The standards are far too low and the End of Grade testing is the goal not a guideline. It would be niced to see kids challenged for a change. Language is a huge problem also. Hoke County has a large non-english speaking population, but these children are mainstreamed into regular English speaking classrooms and are also not given EOG testing. This not only puts the non-English speaking students at a huge disadvantage, but the teachers and other students suffer as well. ESL classrooms might be a solution and providing EOG tests in other languages might also help evaluate the actual progress of the students.

My daughter has been going to East Hoke for three years now, she has some problems in her reading and math. since she has been here her teachers have helped her alot. I'm very thankful for all of them. She has some great teachers They let us know what is going on with her. It's not just the teachers. Some parents get carried away when their child gets in trouble and they want to blame it on the teachers. Yes there is a lot of military in Hoke county schools, and some of them are the problem too.

This school has a lot of problems. Poor student behavior, very few of the teachers care about the kids, low ay so the good teachers tend to leave, and low test scores. However the scores have gone up as more military moves into the are bringing students from other areas that have better schools.
