I just recently moved to this school district and when i first walk into this school it look run down and alilttle old but when i enrolled my child in this school it grew on me little by little it is getting redone and i just love the staff they are nice and understanding. My child really likes this school and her teacher is awesome, My child was nervous and scared to attend a public school but the asst. principle made my child feel confident and even introduced my child to her class and teacher. When it was time for her first day of school there she was so excited and had a wonderful day. Thank You Hoke Staff for being so understanding. BTW i have never met the principle.

I was appalled when I heard that this school confiscated a student's lunch because of "unhealthy" food. When does the government have the right to overstep a parent's right? The student was given "synthetic" chicken nuggets. What is better? Natural vs Synthetic. This school should apologize to that parent and stay out of the parental domain. The mission of a school is to teach the basic R's and not to promote a liberal agenda of the current administration.

What a joke HOKE is Nationwide. To have a little pre-k student being traumatized by having her lunch "inspected" by a GOVERNMENT AGENT...and then being told, "your Mom made you a bad lunch." A Turkey and Cheese Sandwich, Chips, a banana and apple juice...OMG, with all the kids could have a lunch as healthy. What a JOKE the school is.....wait, HOKE does rhyme with JOKE. Funny thing, the inspection isn't being done anywhere else......OMG, WHAT A JOKE HOKE IS NATIONWIDE. SHAME ON YOU!!!

Pretty good school. Secretary Sebelius's agents inspecting pre-schooler lunches for unapproved lunch contraband is an excellent service provided at this school. I heard some kids were bringing unapproved bananas to school and they were rightly confiscated. The gaw of some parents to send a carb-rich fruit for preschoolers to eat is beyond me. Don't the parents realize that school nutritionists have developed a synthetic chicken nugget with all the good things a growing kid needs? This school has your child's best interests in mind

My son attended the More at Four program during the 2008-2009 school year here. His teacher and teacher's aid were WONDERFUL. That being said, the principal is a rude, unfriendly person and there are other office personnel who are equally off-putting. I have had my son reassigned last year and this year to another elementary and we are much happier there.

We pcs'd here from Maryland due to the Army and this was my daughters first year at West Hoke Elementary in Pre-K. It was a great year full of learning, fun and excitement for her as her teachers were excellent and kept an open floor for communication from both sides. My daughters Pre-K graduation was good as we are proud of her and she was happy of her accomplishments. I must say that this school year was great and hope to have the next 5 years at the school to be wonderful!!

This school would be great if it weren't for the current principal. He is not friendly. I have been into the school several times and he doesn't speak to people. He doesn't show up to most of the family nights out. It is ridiculous that he doesn't show any support for his own school. I am very dissapointed.

I do agree that this is a good school and the teachers are doing their best in getting the students their education but the head is not doing their job in trying to hide alot of things and sweep alot under the rug. They will do better with another principals someone that really have the heart for kids.

West Hoke is on it's way to becoming a great school. The teachers are high quality but the facilities need work and there are no extra curricular activities. They are serious about education.
