This is our 10th year at LRES and our entire family has been very pleased. I'm proud to say that LRES holds the 3 keys to a great education: 1) innovative and motivated teachers, 2) an approachable and dedicated administration, and 3) an active and involved PTA. Because of these, my children have all gotten great educations. They are now in elementary, middle and high school and are very successful honors students and are well-rounded kids. I thank LRES for all the ways that it has taught my children both in and outside of the classroom including diversity, inclusion of special needs students, exposure to cultural arts, focus on the community, etc. Thank you LRES for the strong academic foundation and for teaching my children some of the most important lessons in life at an early age. You are truly a wonderful, supportive educational environment for kids.
I have had two children at Lynn Road over the past seven years, and they have both received a solid elementary school education. Our principal has been at the school three years, and she is a great advocate for our students. The PTA is getting stronger every year and has wonderful programs for the families.
As a parent of a student that attends Lynn Road Elementary, I have to agree with previous posts made by parents. The teachers for the most part are wonderdful; however there are quite a few in the school that need just retire. The follow through on conseques by the administration is just not there, they seem to be parent pleasers instead of sticking to their guns when it comes to follow through of discipline expecially with extreme situations such as: running students, bullying, disrespect of teachers, visiiting parents, students, and other staff. If I could afford to move out of base to another school I would. I pray that my child has an okay final year... Highly concerned parent
We moved out of the LRE base because we are so disappointed w/the school. My 2nd grader's teacher is wonderful, but she is a diamond in a bucket of coal. The discipline at the school is out of control. There is one lame incentive to behaving (which only the little ones care about) and no consequences for bad behavior. Even the teachers seem to lack support from the administration in regards to problem kids. My 5th grader had a terrible time w/bullying and I was saddened to see how he couldn't trust the grown-ups to listen to him. They did not listen to us when we complained, as well. I hope the district can work on getting a healthier percentage of needy kids in the school, but until then, LRE is going to be a frustration for healthy families and smart kids.
We are leaving LRE at the end of this year. Unfortunately this is not a 'community' school as we'd been lead to believe. We are 'zero tolerance' parents and have been very disappointed in the caliber of student in this school. The administration doesn't back up the teachers which makes it a sinking ship. We are devastated at this outcome. We've found a private school that most resembles our expectation of 'public' school.
We are very excited to say that our child will not be going to LRES next year! Our child's teacher was a joke (thank goodness for the excellent Assistant Teacher) and the office staff treats you as though you are a total annoyance when you enter the building. My husband and I have witnessed Kindergarten children being talked to in a totally unacceptable manner; degrading them and embarrassing them in front of other children's parents. Sure the renovations are great, and so are all the high tech toys, but personally I would rather my child go to a school without all those bells and whistles and have loving, capable teachers and staff caring for him. If you are slated for LRES, my advice is to get out! Good Luck!!
As a substitute teacher I see a lot of elementaries in Wake County- to be honest this is the only one I would never allow my own child to go to. The teachers are caring and try their best, but there are a lot of discipline problems at this school and the children are just so nasty to each other from Kindergarten on, I wouldn't want my child to deal with that. Lynn Rd is an excellent school, especilly with helping students who have problems with English language and reading. They ESL teacher and reading teacher are exeptionally professional and really do everything to make those children speak and read in English. Thank you so much. Danuta Gasinski
I think Lynn Road lacks extracurricular activities for sports. Even my daughter's old school in rural Sampson County had soccer, t-ball, baseball, and football for the kids k-5 THROUGH the school itself. We never had to rely on a YMCA or something of that nature. I'd really like to see more sporting activities added.
Lynn Rd is an excellent school. The PTA has been working hard to improve technology. We now have 3 moblie laptop carts (each holding 23 laptops) for children to use in their classrooms. We are looking forward to a renovation in 2005. Lynn rd has a wonderful staff as well as the principal and assistant principal. It has alot of diversity which helps the children learn to ineract with all other children. There is no other school in NC that I have seen work harder or achieve so much. Lynn Rd has tremendous support not oly from staff but their parent base as well.
