We always welcome feedback from our parents if they are experiencing issues with staff or have any concerns. Please feel free to contact me to address your concerns. Thank you.
I have to agree with the previous post. My child attended this school for 2 years. He was happy, but there was definitely a disconnect between parents and administration. I questioned whether the "stagnant" atmosphere would be good for my child in the long run. He is in public school now, and I'm amazed by the difference in atmosphere.
My child has been at this school since K. I have always felt like it was a good fit for him because of the smaller enviroment and the message they provided. Unfortunately I can't say the same for myself. I feel it is boardline toxic for the adults. I find the administration staff to be weak, unhelpful and generally unpleasant. I have ofter left the school questioning if was truly a healthy place to send my child. I have decided I will not continue to send my child here and his siblings as well.
Enriching curriculum, and the focus on church/prayer and the teachings of St Francis have added so much to our children's lives! The previous poster is incorrect concerning the authentically Catholic comment . We have had only great things to say about the beliefs, teachers, and education at TFS. We are proud of what are children are learning, and becoming, because of the teachings at this school. You can't go wrong!!
This school is not authentically Catholic. They are more protestant than Catholic. They are good at teaching basics of education. But, their faith development is not very strong. Teachers openly advocate for abortion and other issues that are not definitely Catholic. Parents who are truly Catholic will find this is more Methodist than Catholic.
Great school. Great community. Middle school is kind and academically strong. We enjoy the multi -age activities that the school offers.
The Franciscan School provides a wonderful Catholic education and a solid educational foundation. However, we left for public school for a variety of reasons. Mainly, my daughter wasn't being effectively challenged. She has since been AG identified and has been much more challenged in public school than at TFS. TFS does not provide a lot of "extras" that our public school provides, such as AG services, Odyssey of the Mind, etc. Also, clubs are very limited, especially in the younger grades. If you are looking for a traditional, Catholic education without a lot of frills, this school might be for you. We have been happier in public school and feel that it's much more well-rounded.
My child has attend TFS since kindergarten. She has excelled academically and the character development emphasized by TFS has been evident in her and all the students. Parents are thoroughly involved with their kids and teachers constantly. Accountability of parents and students is required. This school does a great job of preparing kids to be responsible citizens and stewards of the community.
If you want a school that acts like a tight-knit community, then TFS is the school for your children. In 2011 The Franciscan School won the prestigious National Blue Ribbon of Excellence from the US Department of Education. There were only a handful in NC! This school delivers children with respect, character and discipline in addition to fantastic academics.
We have two children at TFS, one in 7th and one in 5th grade and our third will go next year. We are very pleased with the school and its loving environment and caring administration. If you are looking for a school that will educate your children in a catholic setting, to" live and love as Jesus," this is the place for you. We just recieved the National blue Ribbon Award for high academic performance; this speeks for itself. Some comments say we have a lot of change in faculty. When we were young we did, but have not for a long time. It's one of the things we take pride in. We've been at TFS for 8 years and have 9 more to go. We sacrafice a LOT to send our children to TFS but we know it is worth it. Take a tour and you will know.
Excellent school that focuses on the whole child. Great staff and the parent involvement is very high. A welcoming community. I encourage you to take a tour of the school - you will understand why it is a great community once you step foot onto campus.
After comparing lots of schools for our daughter, we chose The Franciscan School for Kindergarten. She's our first so we were a little nervous. She is thriving now at TFS and loves going to school each day. It was the best decision of our lives! I would recommend TFS for any parent looking the best best environment of community and academic rigor and spirituality.
My son is attending kindergarten at TFS. The teachers really are in tune with his needs and learning style- not to mention the positive re-enforcement of good behavior. I love this school and have caught my son asking his cousins if they want to pray for someone who is sick, or really thinking about God. I recommend it to everyone looking for a family environment for their child.
I love TFS for the message of the importance of community that they are teaching to our children.
I am currently a student at the Franciscan School, and I am in the 8th grade. Bullying is a VERY big issue at the Franciscan School, and there are alot of cliques. Though, the principal, Mrs. Bigelow, is one of the best principals we have ever had at our school. She has helped to 'get the word out' about the Franciscan School. Twise a month, we are taken out of class (Math or Science) and go to church. This roughly lasts an hour and a half each. Since this school is around an almost errogant neighborhood, alot of the kids are quite snobby, which then causes the cliques and bullying issue. The administration changes VERY frequently, almost once every 2 yrs, and therefore the rules also change frequently. Alot of the teachers are disorganized, ESPECIALLY in the 8th grade! But over all, the quality of learning is quite poor.
Class size is more like 24 students. Administration and faculty is constantly changing. Bullying has been an ongoing issue.
I have been at TFS ever sience it opened in 2000 and i am in the first class ever to go through every grade and it is great enviorment and the teachers are glad to help any student.
Wonderful atmosphere with excellent teachers and well rounded classes.
