It is sad that NRCA provides an environment of such exclusivity in which non-evangelicals are not accepted or allowed to thrive. The focus is on a very fundamentalist set of rules enforced by a superintendent that is very self-absorbed. Children are taught to judge others and exposed to a limited knowledge base that creates a "culture shock" situation when entering a college environment. Incredibly strict regulations also cause students to acquire a lack of respect for authority figures that are no more lenient to seniors than to kindergarteners.
Too bad I can't leave this school a zero star rating. I don't know where to start, teachers nor principals won't return calls, issues with bullying my child. She won't be re-enrolling agian next year!
We have been overall very pleased with this school. We have 2 children in the elementary school. So I can only speak to that curriculum. We have had concerns about the "in the box" and the lack of creativity in the teaching. They teach to one type of child.....above average (not AG) and don't offer anything for those that are AG. The facilities are top notch, the teachers all seem caring and when we take our kids...we feel good about the environment in which they are learning. The kingdom education is a bonus for us!!!
North Raleigh was a true answer to prayer for our family. This is our second year there. We feel our child is challenged in a very positve way to excel in everything she does. She is taught to think about what she processes and to use her resources to help her. The teaching staff has organized me as a parent to keep up with all that is going on. With the hard passing of a family member, they could not have loved our family more. They really go over and beyond to care for people and care enough to train them in all aspects of life with excellence. When I volunteer, I am so encouraged every week to see the level of learning deepening. I have an undergrad and master's degree in education. I use to teach in the public school and this is exceptional. They really do education well and strive to do it better every day! VERY pleased!
We are so glad that we chose this school for our kids. It really feels like a community. The school really is an extension of our home as far as beliefs and values go. NRCA is really high-tech with their services and tools. We can go online at anytime and see our kids' homework assignments and grades. The teachers have the ability to leave comments with the grades as well. Anytime I've emailed a teacher, I've received a response very promptly. NRCA is also a member of the National Junior Honor Society which is a plus for our Middle Schooler. The students place 2-3 grade years higher than the grade they're in on standardized testing. This will certainly help prepare our kids for college. The drama/fine arts and athletic programs are stellar as well. Our kids are even more polite and respectful since they've been attending NRCA. As parents, we feel privileged to have our children going to school here. It's truly a postiive learning environment devoid of any distractions. There's a strict dress code- if I could change anything I'd like to see them implement uniforms (would be much easier). Most teachers have post Bachelor's Degree educations.
This school TERRIBLE! As a divorced parent, this school has gone out of their way to make me feel unwelcome, to exclude me from my child's curriculum, to make sure I do not receive school work, to not update me on academic progress of my child. My child is bullied constantly at this school. There seems to be no concern from the teachers on this matter. I highly DO NOT recommend it.
NRCA prepared our academically-oriented daughter for her time at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill academically and spiritually. The strength of character and integrity taught at NRCA enhanced her biblical worldview and the depth of NRCA's academics served her well in such a highly competitive environment. It was apparent that the teachers were not committed to a job but to the success of their students. Our daughter grew academically, spiritually, and socially into the fine young lady, wife, and now mother she is. Thank you NRCA for joining hands with us as parents in making a difference in our daughter's life. It was very instrumental to the future she now enjoys. As parents, we truly experienced a Kingdom education.
Basic education does not teach kids how to think, but directs what they are told to think. Back stabbing and bullying environment does not speak to a Christian emphasis. We won't return next year.
Our daughter was in Wake County Public School from K-5. She wasn't challenged academically until her 5th grade year when she was lucky to get a very caring and involved teacher. We chose NRCA after realizing that so many kids at her current and future WCPSS assignment were failing which would certainly take teacher's attention away from students who were high scorers. We had heard NRCA has "tons of homework" and that our child would experience "super conservative- unrealistic biblical teachings." Homework- yes, it's more than we experienced in WCPSS, but it's manageable and our daughter hasn't complained one time. She enjoys what she's learning and has 1-2hrs/night. Yes, there is some weekend homework, but again, not a big deal. Biblical teachings are perfectly reasonable and appreciated by our daughter and by us as well. She participated in a sport and had an amazing coach and dedicated training team to help her through her first sports-related injury. There has been ZERO drama at this school which is a HUGE relief. Our daughter was bullied at her former school and it really dampened her spirit. She's truly thriving here and the price is well below the local average.
This is our first year at NRCA and now half way through, we couldn't be more pleased! We have three kids there -- two in middle and one in elementary. We came from a local charter school and choose NRCA for its Christian aspect, wonderful performing arts and athletic programs, as well as its high standards for academics. We feel very blessed to be at NRCA! It is well worth the money and other sacrifices that go along with a private school.
One of our kindergarten teachers would hardly speak to us. We felt as if she were withholding information about the progress of our child in the class.
After completing our first year at NRCA, we are very pleased with the curriculum, assignments, teachers, administration, and, yes, the fabulous campus. I can speak to the Middle School curriculum. It is challenging and rigorous. The additional bonus of Bible Study and daily prayer completes the package. We chose NRCA over two of the other highly rated private schools in the area and feel that the education provided is comparable to those schools at a fraction of the cost. Perhaps that is why NRCA has been able to expand and accommodate the multi-year waiting list of students applying to NRCA. We feel fortunate as a family to be able to send our children to NRCA.
My son has been attending NRCA for the past 2 years coming from another Christian school in the area. If you are looking for a GOOD, no-nonsence educational experience for your child, NRCA is the place. I consider the Biblical teaching an dadded bonus. I especially like the spirit of excellence that is carried throughout the entire school from the bricks and motar to the Administrator, Faculty and staff. Special shout out to Mrs. Dial who is ALWAYS courteous and helpful to EVERYONE.
Excellent Kingdom Education! It is a good sacrifice to send our son there, but have given up so many things, that is so worth it! We just want him to have the best education. Teachers and staff are friendly. Our son has attendend this school since kindergarten and is now in 3rd grade!
We love NRCA. We were able to return this year after being in public school for one year. We are so glad to be back. I don't know what public school the other poster was referencing, but academically there is no match! My children are much more happy and are actually being challenged academically. Teachers and students were glad to see my children back and diversity has improved. This is not a school for "show" or the wealthy. Everyone is welcome and respected.
Where's the education? Watered down instruction lacks challenge and skill. My child could have learned more in public school. A lot of show with little educational substance.
NRCA is an awesome school! The teachers and staff are warm and loving and encourage the students towards outstanding performance. The fine arts department is excellent and every child gets the opportunity to explore many extra-curricular activities. Our son has achieved national test scores in the 98 percentile for the past few years he has attended - so we are confident he is receiving an excellent education. The most important thing is the Christian values and atmosphere is genuine - not just stated on admissions forms. We love it and are proud to a member of the school community!
The teacher did not hardly speak to me .The people that seem to have the most money are favored. This school is a lot of show .
this is an incredible school! my daughter has attended NRCA for 5yrs and loves every day she is there! they have an incredible award winnig theatre that any one with an child intrested in the fine arts must check out!
