Rowan County Early college has many great extracurricular activities! They have newspaper, yearbook, national honor society, book club, Student government, yoga, student advisory, movie critics, art club, HOSA, junior Civitan, Chess, Unplugged games,Nature club, YCI, Math club, Toastmasters, ect. They go on many educational field trips. They visit colleges all over North Carolina. They go on out of state and country field trips. They encourage every student to do to go further in college after they graduate from RCEC even though most of them receive their associates when they graduate. The teachers truly care about every students education and are easy to talk to about any personal problem you are dealing with in your life. Teachers are not judgmental in anyway. They do everything to make sure you will be confident, successful, well educated, and be yourself though it all. It is so easy to express yourself there. everyone is surrounded by other students with the same goals. They push you to be the best you can be in a loving environment. Everyone has a great attitude towards the school. NO ONE EVER is ever made to feel like being a nerd is a bad thing. Express your inter nerd!

In 2012-2013 North Carolina used End-of-Grade (EOG) tests to assess students in grades 3 through 8 in reading and math, and grades 5 and 8 in science. The EOG is a standards-based test, which means it measures how well students are mastering specific skills defined for each grade by the state of North Carolina. Students must pass the grade 8 EOG test in order to graduate from high school. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level on the tests.
