My kids have had great experiences (K and 2nd) at SPP. The teachers were effective, creative and kind. The administrative staff is generally helpful. Parents are encouraged to be involved. Research the school calendar options - the year round and traditional school years are significantly different. Be sure to choose which works for your family, especially considering the middle and high school do not offer year round. As a military family we prefer traditional for long summer vacations and continuity from post to post. I find most local families prefer year round. Either way, you will be pleased with SPP.

SPP is an above average school with a beautiful campus, with older buildings that are well maintained. The teachers and staff are dedicated to educating all students, and helping them reach their individual potential. They have some unique programs (chess club for kindergarteners) as well good opportunities to explore the community outside the classroom. Some parents are super-involved.

It's the little things that count sometimes and SPP does all the little things (and the big things) RIGHT. The principal really goes out of her way to get to know all of the kids at the school by name and even does morning and afternoon car duty with the other teachers. They have fun clubs that even the Kindergartners can participate in to help enrich their learning experience. The teachers go above and beyond to help ensure a quality, student specific learning experience. Everyone on campus is very friendly and I'm glad my children have a chance to attend SPP!

SPP is a terrific school. The teachers are caring, knowledgeable and hardworking. The school is well maintained, colorful and has many activities that encourage school spirit for all students. The emphasis on reading is a highlight as well as a serious goal for the staff and teachers. The 'specials' (art, music, gym, computers and library) are a favorite of the students. The PTA is very active and encourages parent and family participation throughout the year. The emphasis on the student and their wellbeing in all areas is the most positive thing about this school. I am very happy to say I send my children to Southern Pines Primary and am confident that they will be very well prepared for their next level of education.
