When I first moved to the area I looked into the O'Neal school as a place to enroll my kids. They were not helpful at all, and when I asked about the tuition rates, they acted as if they were no longer interested in talking with me. Like the old saying "If you have to ask, you can't afford it".
For 5 years now I have had 3 children in school at The O'Neal School. Needless to day the school was a real let down so much so that I took my kids out in the middle of school. I am a very young mom and the kids in the upper school became close to me and would come to me with all their problems. It became a real eye opener to me when I found out the high school dances where dropped because they didn't know how to deal with the kids. For one year of school it cost me $40,000.00 for my 3 kids to go to school their. When I see all these great teachers leaving The O'Neal School to teach at a public school because they get paid more I knew there was something wrong. Great buildings poor education. Submitted by a parent of former students.
All three of my children have gone all the way through The O'Neal School and have attended the first college of their choice. My oldest was totally involved in every aspect of school from clubs to sports and continued that in college, where she graduated with degrees in math and computer technology. My second child is a Marine Biologist who graduated top of her class, and my 'baby' is a junior in college already working in her field of Social Services. They were given, and accepted, opportunities at The O'Neal School that prepared them not only for university life, but for life itself. My wife and I can't imagine them ever having gone to any other school.
My daughter started attending O'Neal last year in PreK and is currently enrolled in Kindergarten. This school is excellent and addresses the needs of the whole child. My daughter thoroughly enjoys school and is academically ahead of her peers in many other schools; both in and out of NC. She can already read and attends Spanish class regularly. This school teaches in a creative academic environment where children are thirsty for more and their individual needs are met due to the smaller classroom sizes. My daughter has so much fun learning that she doesn't realize she did a science experiment, read a map, graphed a chart, enjoyed music class and spent time building strong friendships all in one day of Kindergarten. The environment is extremely safe and nurturing; O'Neal is like a second family and has helped my daughter not survive, but thrive during the hardships of military deployments.
Not only am I a parent of three children who attend the school, but also a graduate of O'Neal. I am very pleased with the school as a whole. My children are very happy and enjoy school. I am also pleased with the curriculum and the willingness of the teachers to help the students whenever needed.
As a parent who has been at The O'Neal School for ten years, we are very pleased with the school. It is a wonderful environment to bring my children to every day. There is nothing in the area which can compare.
My daughter graduated from the O'Neal School two years ago and because of the small class size, the personal attention given by the faculty, and the attention given to developing an independent 'whole' child, she was more than well-prepared for college and continues to blossom every day. I now have a senior at the school who wakes up with a smile on his face every morning and goes to school early even if it is not required. Anyone who has a high school senior knows what a joy it is for a parent to see his/her 18 year old this happy. It tells me the O'Neal School is doing things right. I can't imagine my kids at another school.
this school is wonderfull in the following. . . *Achademics *A balance between sports and school work *Sports *Keeping the enviroment save and clean
Outstanding school! You willl not find any better in the Sandhills.
A school is below average when they change their mission statement and do not inform parents. The administration manages on opinion not fact. Every child has an ability to learn and should be appreciated by the teachers who go above the call of duty. Team is between the parent, teacher, student and school. It should not be limited to the team within the school. The vision is limited when you forget about the child.
