Stokesdale Elementary is filled with teachers and staff who go out of their way to help and provide the best possible education they can. They are passionate about what they do and care about the the success of each and every student. Parents should be involved and concerned with their child's education and if only they participate minimally with a conference each quarter, they can rest assured they will have a good, solid education throughout their elementary school years. Bullying is a problem throughout the United States and Stokesdale Elementary attackes the issue head on with awareness programs and pro active communication. My hat goes out to Stokesdale Elementary and their dedicated teachers and strong leadership that make it the best school in the county.

Stokesdale Elementary has some great teachers, however almost every grade level has one or two teachers that no involved parent wants their child to be with. Because the principal caves to parent pressure the good teachers end up with a disproportionate number of high performing students with parents who are willing to help in the classroom. Conversely, the poor teachers end up with those children who could most use the help of the more able teachers, and with those children who are new to the school. There are teachers who help all students regardless of level, but students at the extreme ends of the spectrum usually lose out. Students with learning problems do not get the help they need unless they have a pushy parent, and high excelling students are not provided with enrichment activities when they complete their work well in advance of their peers. Bullying is not dealt with effectively. Still if a parent is involved, children can get an adequate education, and the staff is overall warm and loving. The P.E. , art, and music teachers are excellent.

Stokesdale Elementary is a true gem. Moving to the area a few years ago we assumed we'd be assigned to a larger school in the area. Now that we've had a few years with the wonderful staff and principal, I am very glad that we are at Stokesdale. Every child is important to every teacher. Parent volunteers do an amazing job and the PTA is simply outstanding! Stokesdale certainly brings new meaning to 'don't judge a book by it's cover'. Although a smaller school than some in the area, the entire staff and parents go the extra mile to make it the best educational experience.

My experience at Stokesdale Elementary has been wonderful. Principal Koonce is amazing! She is a great listener, always makes time for the parents, and does her best to resolve any issues. We had none but I've heard that from many parents. My son just finished 1st grade and it has been great. Of course, it all depends on the child's teacher for each grade level. The PTA is proactive and parent involvement is great. We definitely recommend Stokesdale!
