Summerfield Elementary School

All three of my children went to Summerfield Elementary and I could not be more pleased. The principal, teachers, and special needs professionals are the best anyone could hope for and the entire school has a great sense of "family" that makes all students feel cared for and safe. I wish that instead of having to move on to middle school, my kids could have stayed at this school for another three years.

Summerfield Elementary has the greatest teachers....the kind of teachers that you go back to visit after you move up to the next grade. Also, the students are all like family to each other. And best of all, there are lots of great parent volunteers!

This school attracts a great caliber of teacher, many of whom are drawn to the school by the great parental support it receives from the community. The administration is overly large (it is a Guilford County School), and as such this school suffers from a overwhelming bureaucracy. The facility is understaffed, and the office staff isn't the nicest, or most helpful. Parents supply a tremendous amount of funding through classroom supplies and money for programs. They even bought the playground for the school. This is the best public elementary school in the county, and it will provide children with a good education. A great one? No.

Summerfield is a great school. My child started kindergarten this year and has been very successful. All of the teachers (not just kindrgarten teachers) are all very loving and helpful.
