My son currently an eighth grader which has had some problems with bulleing during the 2011-2012 school year. There are other student discipline issues as well. We all know that this age group can be mean to one another; but when this was discussed with the principal Mrs. Matthews she was unresponsive to my wife and my concerns and basically down played the whole thing. At this point we where convinced that the leadership of this school was not as good as it could be. When your child comes home from school and tells his parents that he hates school and never wants to go back, what is a parent to do. Now Mrs. Matthews has been suspended for an unrelated issue, this one being a result of a teachers behavior, perhaps there us more going on behind the scenes that what even we are aware of.

This is a horrible school with the zero zero policy, why put more pressure on kid's trying to adjust to Middle School? My child was identified gifted in third grae and when we moved two of her teacher's gave her bad recomendation's because I didn't agree with their 'ingenious zero policy'. So, therefore she was almost taken out of the gifted program. And the 'kicker' she was making an 'A' in one class and a 'B' in the other. Parent's BEWARE!!!

Charles D. Owen Middle School is a great school! The staff is wonderful and the students really enjoy it there. Not to mention their food is really good. It is a good, clean school and I love it.

My child is a 7th grader at OMS. I am overall very pleased with the commitment of his teachers, the curriculum offered and the extra curricular activities provided. My only 'complaint' is that Spanish is not offered as a year long course. In this day and age foreign language especially Spanish is a must for anyone wanting to enter the job market!

Owen Middle School is a good school overall. My daughter attends 7th grade there. She attended the 6th grade there and I plan on sending her there for the 8th grade. She has a full curriculum and is making mostly A's and some B's. I applaud our teachers for doing a difficult task in helping students to learn while also preparing them to do well on state prescribed tests. That is a daunting challenge that it appears many of them have met as they strive to encourage the students to think, explore and learn.

I went to that school last year, it was a good school, and it gives you plenty of opportunities (more that other schools in the county). It had wonderful teachers that explained everything to me. Like I said, it was a fine school.

My child went to this school for one year during 7th grade. She was droping 3 grade levels because of this school. I did immediately take her out. This has happened with my other child in this school. I put her in another school and she is doing very well now. I have learned my lesson.
