Swansboro is the best school, teachers are great, students are friendly. The administration isn't the best
I went to Swansboro Middle for three years and Swansboro High for a portion of my ninth grade year. I loved it. I played every sport, had excellant friends, felt safe, and with held a 'b' average. By far the best years of my life, and when my mom and dad retire from the u.s.m.c we are heading straight back to little old Swansboro, I can't wait.
Our daughter attended this school and graduated in 2004, and our son currently attends and is set to graduate 2007. With that said, we would like to let other parents know that this is a wonderful school. The principal, teachers, and councelors have been instrumental in the high level of education our children have attained. It is such a good school that it is over crowded and needs to be updated.Any parent would agree that this is a great school.
Both of my two children attended Swansboro schools from the middle to the high and I never really had any problems with the staff at either school, they have some of the better teachers and I have been very pleased with my daughters education. I think that more parents should take more time in seeing what there children are doing at school and in what they are doing out of school. If there is only one problem it is that this school puts to much into one or two extracurricular activities and not much into others I.E. soccer - volleyball.
My daughter is just finishing her senior year. I moved to this area for the quality education and small-school atmosphere. I haven't been disappointed. I feel that my child is in a safe, close-knit family, where the teachers are approachable and the beautiful new school facilities provide a place conducive to learning.
I had two children attend four years at this school and ultimately graduate in the top ten. I feel that there is a significant lack of good leadership at this school and that my children's education and high school experience left alot of room for improvement. A good soccer team does not a great school make.
Swansboro High School is by far one of the finest schools in eastern NC. The staff and Administration headed by Principal Joseph Beasley, are top notch. They actually care about the students and their needs. I have witnessed first hand that they tend to bend over backwards to help students with problems (school and personal), guiding them to the right pathway when making choices about the future, and helping them find money to goto school (college) if they desire. On the athletic level, this school has one of the finest, well mannered and well trained coaching staff leading the kids. Headed by Atheletic Director (Coach) Jim Sheehan, the coaching staff maintains its professionalism and trueness to the student athletes on and off the field. Well trained staff and local law enforcement guard against any outside threats to the students, ensuring the school has a safe environment for learning.
