The School is great dont get me wrong but the fact that the AC is always going out is a problem that should be addressed. I feel it is hid from the parents also. its been a while and the ac is still not working in my childs class.....they dont even have a fan in there to help. I know my child has been extremely hot and ill coming home and they can not pay attention and be expected to act right if they cannot take care of these issues. I do like the school and the faculty is nice and helpful but I do think some teachers do not do enough with teaching children to write and discourage them from writing their whole name first and last. which is what i taught my son to do. He has now about forgot how to spell it due to this.

The teachers are so great and very understanding of the foster children who come into my home. The principal runs a tight ship but the children always know what is expected of them.

Helena Elementary is an excellent school. The teachers at this school are dedicated to teaching the children, and helping those with learning problems. Starting with the pricipal, and down to the custodians, this school is all about the safety, and learning first for the children. I will miss this school, when we relocate to Florida. They have excellent programs for children with learning disabilites, and they are at the top in the county. Helena is the 'elementary school' to attend in Person County, and probably the state of North Carolina. The school has recently been built, replacing one that I attended in the 60's. From kindergarten through fifth grade, you will find the teacher caring, dedicated, and qualified to give your child the best education they need to prepare for middle school.

I am very pleased with the new Helena Elemantary school. It is always clean and the children seem to really enjoy it. The playground areas are in need of much more of everything, however this I'm sure will come in time. I am very pleased with the teachers and their lesson plans. This year my child has shown great improvements with a teacher that takes time with her students and tries to create an inviting learning atmosphere.
