I am so disappointed in this school. I graduated from this high school and it seems to have hit rock bottom. The leadership at this school is horrible. The kids feel as though they are in prison! If my child could quit school right now and get away with it, he would. I don't think any of the teachers, principal, or other useless staff would even care. Thank God i care! I wish there was a private school in Anson County. I would sign my kids up today. The price wouldn't even be a factor. I would work three jobs just to get them out of this pathetic school. They concentrate more on disciplinary actions than they do education. It's almost like they want the kids to fail and the test scores are an embarrassing joke! The state will be taking over very soon!!!

As a transfer student this year I have come to find that Anson High School is by far the worst high school I have attended in my four years. I am a graduating senior at Anson High School and I find that not only is the level of education one receives from this school extremely low the students who attend this school do not care about their education nor do they care about where they go in life. The school is run down and old. The school building itself is in dire need of repair and reconstruction. The students attending Anson High School do not care about their education at all and personally I can t blame them. There are no advancement opportunities for students in this county. People always say that it s not the school itself it s the students who attend it but if it s the students who are making the school fail terribly why are the test scores so low and why are students failing classes and tests they should have completed in the 8th grade? Students at Anson High School aren t the problem the leadership at Anson High School is the problem. The administration at Anson High School in my opinion has no clue what they are doing with the school. The principle can t control his student body. He claims that he s making all of these changes and that things are getting so much better at Anson when in all actuality things seem to be getting worse. Anson High School needs a drastic change and if things aren t fixed soon the students of Anson County will greatly suffer.

I have had a pretty good time attending this school. However it is not progressing as well as I think it should. We used to have more activities such as spring fling, drama club, and pep rallies. However all that seems to be going away.We also could do with better facilities and student-teacher cooperation. To many students this school seems to lack things to make it interesting. I would love to see this school become more active in more areas than athletics and to see it have more things for students who do not get in trouble, such as a trip or something.

I know some of the faculty here, and the students make this school and living hell. The saying only one bad apple spoils the whole bunch has never been more true here. The only problem is there are more bad apples than good. Only send you kid here if you HAVE to...otherwise...GO PRIVATE!!!

If one considers the socioeconomics of rural Anson County, state budget cuts, and lack of local funds to support education, Anson High does an outstanding job of educating students. Most honors teachers are demanding, and there are many opportunities for students to develop leadership skills and to be involved in community service. Athletic 'talent' may vary from year to year, but the coashing staff and AD in constant in their partnerships with academics. The chief administrator and assistant principals do an outstanding job of enforcing board policy without playing parental politics. Hats off to McLeod.

I once said my children would never attend this school, we planned to move before they reached High School age. I now have one there in 11th grade. It has not been as bad as we thought - the Honors classes she takes makes it bearable. Also they have a band teacher, Ms. Hamby, and she is very demanding but my daughter has truly loved being in band. However, the physical appearance of the school is very poor, very old, and it shows its age. They have built a new football stadium, and added two new buildings, one that houses the band room, which was designed poorly, and inferior to other high schools. However, the cafeteria is overcrowded, very much needs to be updated both structrually and furnishings. Some of the new buildings are already showing extreme wear and needing upkeep and repair. Extracurricular and sports are average, classes ok.
