This school is horrible! When I went to AMS, the students were terrible! I was terrified to go to school! There was a fight almost every other day, kids were always getting hurt, and some students dropped out because of the problems that they were having. I highly recommend that anyone who lives in this district to put there students into home schooling because this school is not worth the stress your student will go through.

I have had all four of my kids go through this school, the youngest two were there during 2006/07 and 2007/08 school years. One thing all my kids had in common at AMS, was having items stolen, mainly during PE class, or after school during sports practices, when the kids are told to leave their things in the locker room, but the lockers have no locks ! The staff sometimes locks the locker room, but not always, and sometimes allows one or two students to return (unsupervised) to the locker room, and boom there is another theft. Typical response we encountered from staff is a lack of concern, an attitude of 'student shouldnt have brought that to school !' , and certainly no motiviation to change the policy (ie, add locks to the lockers ! ) IMO, lack of action by staff encourages thefts to continue.

Anson Middle School have changed over time. With this new make your day program I am totally against it. Nobody ever ask how the parebts felt. Everytime a child gets in a step 4 conference the parent have to get off your job and that is just crazy. I hear some say the children have advantage of the program but not what I have seen. The kids seem like they are in prison and that's why they act up. They can't even go to the bathroom. If they do then they will lose points. There are so many kids out their that have been label because of their diagnosis of ADHD, other problems, the way they dress and that should not be like that but it is. That is why I am glad they have 3 schools that is not part of the school and that is the Anson Challenge Academy,

The principal leadership of this school seems to be fine, but I notice that children are afraid to approach him because he acts like a drill sargeant most of the time. There needs to be a class on manners. Most of the children are very rude. They run into you in the halls without apology. excuse me. As a parent, I have been nearly knocked down. They have no respect at all. The security at this school is very slack. I have walked all over the school and not once did anyone stop me to ask what I needed. Glad my child is out of there!

This school needs to be put out of service. It is very old. The doors on the lockers do not lock and therefore the kids cannot leave their personal belongings. My child personally had several items stolen in the past two years. They treat these kids as elementary students. There are only aloud breaks on Fridays! They all have to sit in one area after lunch and this area is in the blazing sun. The football field is a disaster! Pot holes in the field and they expect them to play soccer on this field as well. Talk about twisting an ankle. The track is overgrown with grass. There is no lighting so games have to be held in the heat of the day during the spring/summer. The lockers in the gym have NO doors! My child had items stolen during PE! Wake up Anson County!

This school has made outstanding progress and is on its way to becoming one of NC elite schools if it keeps its forward track.

I am impressed with the way this school is doing both academically and professionally. My son is learning tremendously and is enjoying his opportunity to be at the Middle School.

This school has made great strides in academic excellence in the past several years. Programs such as GEAR UP N.C.(Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs, a federal college access program that targets 7th & 8th graders)along with SOS (Support our Students)also assist with academic progress through tutoring, mentoring, jobshadowing, college tours, and other cultural activities that involve the entire community. 'Cooperation Deserves Benefits,' is the school's motto. It serves as an incentive for students to do their best and perform at higher levels.

Under the direction of the principle this school has made great progress. Every year for about the past 3 years the E.O.G test results have went up alot. This year under all the new things that the new principle brought I expect that the school will do very well on the test.
