I give the school overall high rankings. The teachers that my kids had were terrific in my opinion. The only problem that I had was with the principle there. I believe that for Special Education to be his area of study, that he was very detached and insensitive in regard to that particular area of his school. So much so, that my oldest son got his arm broken on the playground which was not made wheelchair accessible until AFTER his accident! All this to say that if you're not used to following closely, your special needs child's surroundings you better start if you're sending them to Walkertown Elementary.
I have enjoyed my son attending Walkertown since Kindergarten. I teach at another school and wanted him to come to school with me. However, since this is his home school (according to where we live) I allowed him to attend Walkertown. He has enjoyed it and what GREAT teachers are at the school to vare for children!!
I think this is an excellent school for our children.
I am very satisfied with the teachers my daughter has had already and feel this is a good school.
The school is small and the teachers attempt to do their best to help the students.
The leadership at WES is superb. Teacher quality is also superb. Parental involvement is wonderful and extracurricular activities are also very good.
My kids attend Walkertown Elementary and they love it! The staff is incredibly friendly, compassionate & concerned. They make it a point to know the parents as well as the kids! Safety seems to play a major role and that makes a parent feel more at ease. The academic plan they have is good, but the homework is overwhelming at times. The teachers are incredible with my kids. I, as a parent, appreciate the compassion and the time they take to help with questions and/or concerns. The PTA is exceptional too! I think overall Walkertown is the type of school your kids will enjoy & remember!
My son just loves Walkertown! My son is disabled and the staff has done everything possible to accommodate him. His teachers have given 100% efforts with his education and care. You can sense the happiness that fills the hallways and classrooms. I would recommend this school to anyone for academic achievement and student care.
I have 2 children that are at Walkertown now and one that is now 19 that went to Walkertown. My husband and I are very involved in the school and I have found it to be a wonderful place for our children to learn. The teachers are outstanding and relly go out of their way to help.
My daughter is in Kindergarten at Walkertown and I have really been pleased with the class instruction she has received. When my daughter began I was afraid that she would not be challenged as she had always been identified as a fast learner. I was, however, pleasantly surprised to find that her teachers (Ms. Cline / Ms.Collins)were more than prepared to meet her needs. They have done a great job of keeping her challenged and interested. All the teachers have been extremely friendly including the principal. I thank Walkertown for making my daughter's first 'Big School' experience a great one.
